Frasier Brought One Key Item From Seattle To His Boston Apartment

Frasier Crane’s new Boston apartment in the Frasier reboot has one thing from his old Seattle flat. A big part of Frasier’s third act is his move to Boston, where he starts his new professional journey as an educator at Harvard while also reforging his connection with Freddy. It has been three decades since he left Beantown, and his return means that he has to find a new home, which he is able to easily accomplish thanks to his expanded wealth from his hosting days in Chicago.

While Frasier aims to start fresh in the familiar city, it doesn’t mean that there are no traces of his past in the revival. The Frasier reboot episode 4 feels so much more like the original show as it leans on the familial aspects of its storytelling. Another thing that fans may find familiar in the new series is the grand piano in Frasier’s new apartment — something that he apparently brought from his old Seattle digs as revealed by co-showunner Joe Cristalli to Vulture. Read his full quote below:

We’ve talked about this with Kelsey: What do you bring from that old apartment? Frasier would buy all new stuff except for the grand piano. The grand piano goes with him wherever he goes.

Which Frasier Apartment Is Better: Boston or Seattle?

Much has been said about Frasier’s controversial wardrobe in the reboot. For someone who has massive wealth following his lucrative TV deal in Chicago, the snobby therapist is richer than ever. Given this, it’s mind-boggling that he went from wearing custom Italian suits to shackets and athletic shoes in the revival. Despite that, however, one thing that the new show clearly splurged on is his Boston apartment, which looks classy and charming.

Frasier’s apartment in Boston fully reflects his refined taste. The furniture pieces better match each other, and it even has an alcove for his grand piano. It’s also supposedly cost more, considering that he bought the whole building. That being said, it’s difficult to compete with his old unit in Seattle, primarily because of the magnificent view of the Space Needle. The massive windows made it feel so much bigger than it actually was, and the sweeping views of Emerald City (regardless of how inaccurate it was) impressed anyone who visited him at home. Since his East Coast flat is on the first floor and the widows are much smaller, it just doesn’t give the same urban vibe as its predecessor.

The original plan for the Frasier reboot pilot would have seen Frasier back in Seattle to attend his father’s funeral. It was scrapped after David Hyde Pierce and Jane Leeves turned down the opportunity to reprise their respective roles as Niles and Daphne. Had the Paramount+ show stuck with the plan, however, it’s curious if it would have featured Frasier’s iconic apartment.
