Frankenstein’s Monster Gets A Creepy Update On The Classic Universal Monster Design

Frankenstein‘s monster receives a creepy update on the classic Universal design in new AI art. Frankenstein has a rich history dating back to the early days of cinema. The iconic character, created by Mary Shelley for her 1818 novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, made his first appearance on screen in Universal’s 1931 adaptation featuring Boris Karloff as The Monster. The film established the enduring image of the lumbering, bolt-necked creature.

Some new AI art, shared by @filzayeye on Instagram, provides a creepy update on the classic Universal design for Frankenstein’s monster. Check out the art below:

The art captures some iconic aspects of The Monster’s appearance, such as his square head, greenish skin, and sunken, mournful eyes. However, the art also updates the classic Universal design to look even creeper. Forgoing the metal bolts in his neck, the AI art depicts Frankenstein’s monster with large cavernous sores and notches in the skin. Overall, the monster manages to look even more miserable than he was originally depicted.
