The newly announced Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight, threatens to spoil House of the Dragon‘s ending well before the HBO series concludes. While production on A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has only just begun, House of the Dragon season 2 is currently airing on Max, picking up where the hugely successful first outing left off. Also a prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon is set roughly two centuries before HBO’s Emmy-winning original series based on George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series.
Using sections from Martin’s 2018 book Fire & Blood as a foundation, House of the Dragon focuses on House Targaryen — the line that will eventually produce Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in roughly 172 years. Set 100 years after Game of Thrones‘ Seven Kingdoms are united by the Targaryen conquest, House of the Dragon chronicles the events that culminate in the fall of House Targaryen. While House of the Dragon season 1’s ending set the war of succession into motion, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms threatens to spoil the iconic “Dance of the Dragons” before it plays out onscreen.

Adapted from George R. R. Martin’s novella “The Hedge Knight,” A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 is set roughly 100 years after the events of House of the Dragon, which means the latest Game of Thrones spinoff will likely reveal how the Targaryen war of succession ends. With A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms slated for a 2025 release and House of the Dragon season 3 on the horizon (via Variety), it seems near-impossible for the former to avoid spoilers. The one potential saving grace, however, might be the House of the Dragon follow-up’s premise.
Reportedly, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ plot will look much different than House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. Instead of delving into the politics of Westeros’ great houses and warring kingdoms, the spinoff will follow Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his squire, Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), as they interact with the Seven Kingdoms’ common people. Nonetheless, it’s hard to imagine the spinoff avoiding the outcome of the “Dance of the Dragons” altogether. After all, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will feature Targaryens, which means something about House of Dragon‘s epic conclusion will be spoiled.

An update on Game of Thrones’ upcoming spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, is a change for the franchise, but one that the show very much needed.
Game Of Thrones Already Spoiled The Hedge Knight & House Of The Dragon’s Ending
Maester Aemon & Others Spoil The Dance Of The Dragons’ Outcome
The original Game of Thrones actually spoiled both A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon. According to Game of Thrones, Aegon V Targaryen was Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and the fifteenth Targaryen to sit on the Iron Throne — and, in his youth, went by the name of Egg while serving as a squire (via Westeros.org) — which is something Maester Aemon mentions. Even Joffrey and Shireen Baratheon casually spoil the outcome of the “Dance of the Dragons.” That said, the Game of Thrones spinoffs are more about their journeys than their destinations.
