Forza Horizon 5 Series 5 Update Adds Sign Language Accessibility Feature

Developer Playground Games has released a new update for Forza Horizon 5 which introduces new accessibility settings and adds support for American Sign Language and British Sign Language for various in-game scenes and cinematics. One of Forza Horizon 5′s more laudable moves is the large number of customizable options that allow the game to be accessible to all sorts of players. Being one of the highest-rated racing games of 2021, its developers announced that even more Forza Horizon 5 accessibility options would be coming to the open-world racing title, including a sign language interpreter and many more in 2022 expected in future updates.

As the latest entry in the long-running Forza Horizon series, Forza Horizon 5 features the largest open-world in the series yet. Delivering deeper story missions, extreme weather and season systems, improved vehicle customization, and countless trails to explore in Mexico’s solitary deserts and rich rainforests. Bringing racing to current-gen consoles, Forza Horizon 5 also includes more vehicles than the previous title in the series, with over 500 vehicles to choose from at launch, offering players multiple choices for different playstyles. Additionally, even more vehicles are on the way, as a recent leak has revealed that 6 brand-new cars are coming Forza Horizon 5 between early March and mid-April.

Shared via an exclusive IGN trailer, Forza Horizon 5 has received a new Series 5 update that introduces the long-awaited sign language accessibility feature to the game. Released on March 1st, the update adds support for the American Sign Language (ASL) and British Sign Language (BSL) for over 300 cinematics. Found under the Accessibility menu, enabling the feature adds a picture-in-picture display of an ASL or BSL interpreter during cutscenes and can be easily customized by players to choose where the interpreter appears on-screen and behind what color background they appear in.

The sign language accessibility feature is another step forward in Playground Games’ plan in making Forza Horizon 5 the most accessible racing game to be ever released. In addition to the newest update, the title’s most distinctive accessibility feature is the ability to adjust the game for multiple forms of colorblindness, which features adjustable filters for deuteranopia, protanopia, and tritanopia. This adjusts the game’s color palette to make the visuals more pleasant for players with different varieties of colorblindness and ultimately allows more players with disabilities to enjoy the open-world racing title.

Forza Horizon 5 has been wildly recognized for its excellent and innovative accessibility, and developer Playground Games seems intent to continue improving and making accessibility advancements for its open-world racing title. With more than 15 million players playing Forza Horizon 5, the addition of continued accessibility support will expand its player base more than the series has ever seen before.

Forza Horizon 5 is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
