Forza Horizon 5 Heating Up With Hot Wheels DLC Soon

An alleged leak suggests that Forza Horizon 5 will soon receive a Hot Wheels DLC expansion, letting players race model cars across an open-world map. Playground Games’ newest racing experience, which launched in November 2021, takes players to a vast fictionalized version of Mexico. Last year a Forza Horizon collaboration with Hot Wheels brought a number of cars to life as scale models, and soon players might be able to take virtual models on the road.

Playground Games’ Forza Horizon series specializes in transforming real-world locations into open-world environments that players can explore and race across. The series’ latest installment, Forza Horizon 5, lets players tear across the cities, jungles and beaches of Mexico while engaging in a number of different race types. Players can extensively customize each available vehicle by installment body kits or swapping engines, and since launch Forza Horizon 5 has added even more cars to its roster through free updates. Earlier this year a Forza Horizon 5 DLC leak teased a number of new cars, and now it seems that players will be stepping into a Hot Wheels model instead.

Twitter user and notable leaker Wario64 has apparently revealed an upcoming Hot Wheels DLC for Forza Horizon 5. While details are scarce, the open-world racing game’s first expansion pack will allegedly add a number of miniature die-cast vehicles for players to drive. The DLC’s teaser image also shows an iconic orange Hot Wheels track stretching across the Forza Horizon 5 map, suggesting some big changes to the game’s otherwise realistic map of Mexico. Forza Horizon 4 also received a Hot Wheels DLC pack, lending some credibility to the currently unconfirmed leak.

Forza Horizon 5 may soon let players race around in scaled-up die-cast models, but the racing game Hot Wheels Unleashed already lets fans tear across unique tracks in miniature vehicles. The arcade racing game, released in 2021, puts players behind the miniature wheels of tiny cars as they race around everyday locations like garages or kitchens. Hot Wheels Unleashed offers more than 60 cars for players to drive, and each can be extensively customized to change their color and various parts. However, the racing game does lack the realistic open world of Forza Horizon 5.

Hot Wheels crossovers have become a staple of the Forza Horizon series, and leaks suggest that the series’ newest installment will soon receive its own scale model DLC. Letting players race around in giant Hot Wheels models would be fun on its own, but adding loops to the game’s open world would be truly impressive. This expansion is currently unconfirmed, however, so only time will tell whether Forza Horizon 5 players actually get to speed across Mexico in a Hot Wheels model.

Forza Horizon 5 is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
