Fortnite: Where To Find The Sideways (Season 8)

Discovering where to find the Sideways is important in Fortnite season 8. The Sideways is a new dimensional location introduced in this new season. Upon entering it, players will be teleported into an alternate version of a map location. Here, massive cube monsters will wander around and attack the player if they get too close. Not only that, but gravity is altered, allowing players to jump higher than they normally would. The thing that makes this area so interesting is that its exact location shifts with every new match. But, locating it is fairly simple.

The reason players will want to enter the Sideways is that many of the new Character Quests require different tasks to be completed within the Sideways. Character Quests are a new mechanic introduced this season that pushes players to help out the various NPCs scattered around the map.

Each challenge will reward players with tons of XP towards their Battle Pass. Players looking to unlock the Carnage skin will want to clear these out as quickly as possible. For example, Fabio Sparklemane requests that players dance for five seconds while in the Sideways. There are tons of Sideways-related quests this week with more likely to appear as the season progresses. Since the Sideways changes its location with every game, players will need to plan accordingly with each round. Fortunately, it’s fairly simple to see where it appears within each game.

When looking at the map, players should search for a bright orange and purple bubble on the map. This indicates the location of the Sideways anomaly. Upon entering this location, the screen will get darker and monsters will begin to attack the player. These are all the quests in week 1 that require players to visit the Sideways.

  • Fabio Sparklemane (Quest 5): Dance for five seconds while in the Sideways.
  • Dusk (Quest 4): Get an elimination with a Pistol, SMG, or Shotgun in the Sideways.
  • Dark Jonesy (Quest 4): Cause 150 headshot damage on monsters in the Sideways.
  • Dark Jonesy (Quest 5): Defeat two waves of Cube Monsters in the Sideways anomaly.
  • Baba Yaga (Quest 5): Use a bandage or medkit in the Sideways.
  • Torin (Quest 1): Enter the Sideways.
  • Torin (Quest 2): Collect a Sideways weapon.
  • Torin (Quest 3): Deal 100 damage to players with a Sideways weapon.
  • Torin (Quest 4): Eliminate 10 Cube Monsters in the Sideways.
  • Torin (Quest 5): Complete a Sideways encounter.

To unlock each of these quests, players will need to complete the character challenges that come before them. Players should try and focus on Torin first since all of her tasks require players to enter the Sideways. This area seems like it will remain throughout the rest of the season so players should get comfortable with taking down Cube Monsters. This is still one of the best ways to earn XP for the Battle Pass.

Fortnite is available now on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
