Fortnite Leak Suggests Uncharted Movie Crossover Is Coming Soon

A recent leak suggests that Fortnite could be crossing over with the upcoming live-action Uncharted movie as part of its ongoing Chapter 3. Epic’s massively successful battle royale game has seen its fair share of crossovers and guest appearances over the years, with the most recent being the Fortnite debut of Spider-Man’s arch-nemesis the Green Goblin. Before that, a few of PlayStation’s exclusive mascots have been featured as playable Fortnite skins, such as God Of War’s resident fallen deity Kratos and the spear-wielding Horizon Zero Dawn heroine Aloy. Fortnite’s Chapter 3 started back in December, and Epic reports that more players logged on to see the start of this season than any other in the game’s nearly five-year history.

Meanwhile, the long-awaited live-action film adaptation of Naughty Dog’s beloved Uncharted series is finally about to hit the big screen on February 18 from Venom and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, with Spider-Man: No Way Home’s Tom Holland playing a younger version of the wise-cracking treasure hunter Nathan Drake as he teams up with grizzled fortune seeker Victor “Sully” Sullivan in search of Magellan’s lost gold. Sony is currently pulling out all the stops to promote its new Uncharted film following a long and tumultuous production cycle, and even Uncharted game director Kurt Margenau has expressed excitement in seeing Tom Holland bring Nathan Drake to life.

Now it appears that Fortnite is partnering with Sony once again to promote the new Uncharted movie, at least according to a leak from Twitter user and reliable Fortnite news hunter HYPEX. According to them, Fortnite Chapter 3, Week 11 will feature a brand-new Fortnite Chapter 3 Challenge that tasks players with “collecting Treasure using an Uncharted Treasure Map” for a reward of “4 legendary weapons, 4 good heals, 270 mixed mats, so much ammo & 100 Gold.” This Challenge is said to be held on February 17, a day before the Uncharted film is planned to be released in theaters – hence why HYPEX suspects that this could be a sign of a larger crossover between Fortnite and Uncharted.

Aside from the upcoming Uncharted movie, fans are currently jumping back into the high-octane adventures of Nathan Drake thanks to the recent PS5 release of the Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection. This set features remastered versions of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and its spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, with the games set to come to PC sometime this year. Even better, a pair of Uncharted developers have recently hinted that a brand-new Uncharted game for the PlayStation 5 is possible in the future.

Although this supposed collaboration between Fortnite and Uncharted hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, the alleged timing of HYPEX’s Chapter 3, Week 11 Challenge and the use of the word “Uncharted” to describe the treasure map players will use seem to strongly indicate that it is meant to tie in with the upcoming Uncharted movie. This Challenge could be part of a larger batch of Uncharted-related Fortnite content, possibly including playable skins of characters like Nathan Drake and Sully in either their video game or live-action iterations. More details will likely be revealed by Epic as Uncharted nears its February 18 release date.
