Forgot Apple Watch Passcode? How To Easily Reset It

Sometimes people forget things, but Apple makes it fairly easy for Apple Watch owners to reset their passcodes and even when they can’t remember the code. Apple is no stranger to making user-friendly devices, with many of its products designed to be easy to use by everyone. This also includes making changes through the settings when something goes wrong, such as a forgotten passcode.

As a company, Apple has created an entire user-friendly ecosystem with its iPhone, Mac, and iPad products. As these devices play well with each other, they can act as an incentive for consumers to buy other devices from the company. This is the case when it comes to Apple’s other products, such as its AirPods and Watch. As once paired with another main Apple device, the owner can do even more than before.

To reset the passcode on the Apple Watch directly, put the smart device on the charger and hold the side buttons. Users will then be presented with several options, including “Power Off,” “Medical ID” and “Emergency SOS.” At this point, swipe the “Power Off” option and tap the red icon that prompts to erase all content. Once the process finishes, the owner can set up the Apple Watch again. For those that see a passcode keypad instead of the ‘Power Off’ option, this can be bypassed by pressing down on the keypad before taking the finger off the screen. Following which, the Apple Watch owner will see a reset button appear, and tapping it will initiate the reset process.

By placing a paired iPhone close to the Apple Watch, the user can start the resetting process by accessing the Watch app on their mobile device and tapping “My Watch.” From here, navigate to the general section and tap on the reset tab. Device owners will see several options, including “Erase Apple Watch Content and Settings,” “Reset Home Screen Layout” and “Reset Sync Data.” Apple Watch owners can activate the reset process by tapping and confirming the “Erase Apple Watch Content” tab and entering their Apple ID password, if prompted.

At first glance, the process may seem rather intimidating, but it is relatively straightforward and direct. People who struggle with technology can also reach out to Apple’s support team to have someone guide them through the process. With that said, it can always be helpful to write down passwords and refer to them at times when forgotten. Like any product, Apple or otherwise, frequently changing passwords can help maintain a secure digital environment.
