Forget About Project Necromancer: The Bad Batch Is Hiding An Even Bigger Imperial Secret

Forget About Project Necromancer: The Bad Batch Is Hiding An Even Bigger Imperial Secret

Star Wars: The Bad Batch has shown the origins of Emperor Palpatine’s Project Necromancer, but that isn’t the only secret in The Bad Batch season 3. Dr. Royce Hemlock is looking to create clones of the Emperor that are also Force-sensitive. It’s been revealed so far in The Bad Batch season 3 that in order for these Force-sensitive clones to have the same midi-chlorian or M-count as Palpatine, Omega’s blood is needed.

The Empire has been taking Force-sensitive children and holding them in their base on Mount Tantiss so that Hemlock’s experiments may prove successful. This combined with the experimentation of clones leaves a lot of questions about the size and functionality of Tantiss. It’s obvious that Hemlock and his team are working on more than one vitally important project for the Empire, but the real size of his operation isn’t clear.

Mount Tantiss Isn’t The Only Imperial Base On Wayland

A mystery is hiding in plain sight

Mt. Tantiss on Wayland in Star Wars: The Bad Batch

Mount Tantiss’ exterior shows that part of a mountain has been cut out near its peak, likely to accommodate for incoming ships. It’s fairly inconspicuous, but when looking at the other mountains near the Tantiss base, it’s clear that Tantiss isn’t the only mountain with cutouts. This seems to indicate Tantiss isn’t the only secret Imperial base on Wayland, but that there are more secrets to be uncovered on the planet.

It’s unclear if this other base on Wayland is also run by Hemlock and a part of Project Necromancer. Still, it’s possible that Palpatine has compartmentalized that information and no one knows what’s going on in there. It’s also not clear if the Imperials working in Tantiss know there are other bases on Wayland. With so few episodes remaining in The Bad Batch season 3, it’s questionable if it will be revealed what is in the other Wayland base.

What Other Secret Experiments & Projects Are Happening On Wayland?

Palpatine had bases across the galaxy – but what about this one?

With the secrecy surrounding Project Necromancer, it can only be imagined what is taking place on the other Wayland base. It’s possible that it’s operating as another detention center holding clones for other undisclosed experiments. It’s also possible that this other Wayland base is being used for projects that have already been seen in Star Wars, such as the Death Star. It’s possible that Galen Erso and Orson Krennic are working on the blueprints and the science needed to make the space station operational.

The Empire also had many different failed projects like Grand Admiral Thrawn’s TIE-D or TIE Defender project. It’s possible that this other base that neighbors Tantiss is part of a failed Imperial project that audiences haven’t heard of yet. With so few episodes left of The Bad Batch, audiences may have to wait a while longer to find out. However, for now, audiences can only hope that Clone Force 99 can rescue Omega and the rest of the Clones from Mount Tantiss.
