Flash’s Kids Are Becoming DC’s Newest Teen Titans

Warning: spoilers ahead for Teen Titans Academy #8!

In a new preview for DC Comics’ Teen Titans Academyit’s being teased that the children of Wally West’s Flash may become new Titans. While it’s certainly been a while since Wally was a member of the Teen Titans as Kid Flash, it looks as though the current Scarlet Speedster is finally paying his friends at the Roy Harper Academy a visit. Additionally, the preview reveals he’ll be bringing his kids Jai and Irey, as he’s thinking about getting them enrolled for the new school year.

In recent issues of The Flash, it’s been revealed that Wally West’s kids are destined to become great heroes in the future, being as brave as their father with even more impressive abilities. However, Wally’s daughter Irey has already shown an aptitude for heroism as seen in their first impromptu mission in The Flash #774. As a result, it makes sense that Wally would see superhero school as a logical next step for his twin children.

In the new preview for Teen Titans Academy #8 from writer Tim Sheridan and artist Mike Norton, a new school year is beginning and the original Titans (the academy’s faculty) are giving prospective students and their parents a tour of the campus and facilities. However, Wally and his kids make an unfortunate entrance, arriving in front of the school right as the teachers were clarifying the death of Roy Harper and the Flash’s tragic involvement during Heroes in Crisis. Enjoy the preview pages and synopsis for the upcoming issue:

It’s Halloween at the Academy! That means homecoming is fast approaching! With the freshmen excited about getting in touch with their spooky sides, the faculty, again, grapples with the scary threat posed by their rogue student, the mysterious Red X. Luckily, this time, the Titans have help from some old friends who have, at long last, come home…

While the synopsis teases an exciting and fearsome Halloween story surrounding the ongoing mystery about the unknown student who’s become the new Red X, it looks as though Flash and the West twins will be involved as well. While it would certainly be cool to see Wally’s kids to attend the Roy Harper Academy, taking up his legacy as Titans, will the danger of whatever Red X has in store convince the Flash otherwise?

A team-up between the Flash and his fellow Titans will no doubt be exciting, even if things might be somewhat awkward given the past with Roy Harper’s death (actually caused by the villain Savitar and, unbeknownst to the Titans, recently reversed.) Regardless, the prospect of Jai and Irey becoming Teen Titans just like their father once was is a fitting beginning to their own ambitious careers, and given the many abilities of speedsters, would even help to make their class the school’s most powerful yet. Hopefully, Flash decides to trust the Teen Titans Academy with his kids when the issue releases November 30.
