Five Nights At Freddy’s Come Find Me Tease Sets Up FNAF 2’s New Villain

Five Nights At Freddy’s Come Find Me Tease Sets Up FNAF 2’s New Villain

This article contains spoilers for Five Nights At Freddy’s.

The last moments of the end credits of Five Nights At Freddy’s are incredibly creepy, but the movie’s final goodbye may be more than just a spooky message, and in fact, could be a major hint to Five Nights At Freddy’s 2’s new antagonist. Five Nights At Freddy’s is a movie adaptation of the long-running and wildly popular horror game of the same name. Both the game and the movie follow a security guard who begins working the night shift at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. The abandoned arcade and pizza joint is scary enough as it is, but only gets worse when the animatronics inside come to life.

2023’s Five Nights At Freddy’s offers many easter eggs surrounding the original video games and fandom, and one such reference appears at the tail end of the movie. Just as the credits are about to finish rolling, a deep, modulated voice begins to read out a series of letters. Put together, they read as: “come find me.” While this may seem like an obvious hint at Mike’s missing brother Garret, there is another piece to this end credits puzzle. Really, it is the song that plays before this skin-crawling message that could hint at a greater Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 mystery.

Five Nights At Freddy’s Credits Could Be A Tease For The Puppet

There is a chance that Five Nights At Freddy’s end credits message could be a reference to the video game’s antagonist, the Puppet. The connection lays in the fact that right before the message is revealed, a song called “My Grandfather Clock” plays. This song isn’t just a random track off the Five Nights At Freddy’s soundtrack either. “My Grandfather Clock” is a pivotal song in Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 because it is the song that plays in the music box that keeps the Puppet away. If a player fails to wind up the music box, then the Puppet will kill them.

Though “My Grandfather Clock” playing in the end credits of Five Nights At Freddy’s could be a mere coincidence, this is a franchise with so much lore and so much storytelling ahead of it that it seems reckless to just play songs from the games at random. In fact, it seems more likely that the filmmakers would choose specific songs to set the stage for the next film. In this case, “My Grandfather Clock” is an obvious hint at the Puppet. And paired with the end credits’ creepy message, perhaps the Puppet is the one sending it.

The Puppet Being Five Nights At Freddy’s 2’s Villain Matches The Games

Another reason why “My Grandfather Clock” is likely a hint to the Puppet is the fact that it would make sense according to the games. The Puppet first appears in Five Nights At Freddy’s 2, therefore, the second movie in the franchise would also be the perfect time to introduce the live-action version of the villain. In actuality, teasing the Puppet in the end credits of the first movie makes sense too. Not all audience members remain for the end credits, but those who love the franchise are more apt to stay, and also, are more likely to pick up on the reference the movie is trying to make.

If Five Nights At Freddy’s truly is teasing the Puppet, this is a pretty exciting step forward for the franchise. The Puppet is not just an antagonist in Five Nights At Freddy’s 2, but appears in several of the franchise’s games including Five Nights At Freddy’s 3, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator, Ultimate Custom Night, and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted. If the Five Nights At Freddy’s film franchise really takes off, then the Puppet could become a major and long-running antagonist, starting with this end credits tease. In this way, the film is already laying the groundwork for a vast film franchise.

Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 Using The Puppet Can Connect To Mike’s Story

The Puppet isn’t completely disconnected from Five Nights At Freddy’s message either. “Come find me” seems like a clear connection to Mike’s brother Garret, but perhaps Garret and the Puppet are connected as well. Perhaps, in the film franchise version of things, Garret will be the soul inhabiting the Puppet rather than Charlotte Emily of the games. In fact, this could make sense if Garret was William Afton’s first victim in the films rather than Charlotte. Therefore, when the end credits plays “My Grandfather Clock” then plays the message, it is Garret via the Puppet asking Mike to come find him in Five Nights At Freddy’s 2.
