Five Nights at Freddy’s has broken a major 2023 box office record, cementing itself in horror movie history. Based on the video game series of the same name, the film follows security guard Mike Schmidt as he takes a job monitoring Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a run-down restaurant home to killer animatronics. While the film hasn’t fared well with critics, audiences and fans of the games have praised it. The movie has since become a massive box office success.
Now, Collider reports the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie has made $113 million at the domestic box office, making it the highest-grossing horror film of 2023. The film was able to rise to the top in only its first two weekends, meaning an even bigger box office is likely on its way. In addition, the movie has earned a collective $215 million worldwide in its first two weeks, showing just how much of a success it has become.
