Although it has only just been released in theaters, Five Nights At Freddy’s easter eggs already make it possible for the franchise to expand with sequels and spinoffs, including a Sister Location spinoff featuring Circus Baby. Five Nights At Freddy’s originated in 2014 as a horror video game, and has since grown to include over nine games, associated books and merchandise, and now a live-action feature film starring Josh Hutcherson. Overall, the story follows the nighttime security guard at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, who must survive five nights of being pursued by a series of possessed animatronics.
Though the Five Nights At Freddy’s franchise began with Freddy Fazbear and his pizzeria, the world of the video games actually expanded in 2016 with the release of Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location. Unlike the previous four main games of the franchise, Sister Location does not take place at Freddy’s, but instead, takes the security guard Michael to William Afton’s “sister location,” Circus Baby’s Entertainment and Rental. At Circus Baby’s, there are new animatronics, and therefore new threats to outrun. Now, it seems that the film franchise may also be able to explore this new location.
A Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location Movie Can Happen With Circus Baby
There is no doubt now that a Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location movie can happen because Circus Baby has already appeared as an easter egg in the Five Nights At Freddy’s film universe. In 2023’s Five Nights At Freddy’s, the animatronics at the pizzeria are determined to get Abby to become one of them. Therefore, one night they lure her to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria and Chica leads her away to a room in the back. There, an open animatronic sits, waiting for Abby to be pushed in and ultimately killed. This animatronic, which has the vague shape of a doll, seems to be William Afton’s spinoff creation, Circus Baby.
Because Circus Baby already had her unofficial introduction to the big screen in Five Nights At Freddy’s, a Sister Location spinoff movie is definitely possible. Though Circus Baby is really only a cameo in this first movie, in the games she is her own antagonist, akin to Freddy in some ways. Furthermore, Circus Baby is an important character for the franchise overall. While the animatronics at Freddy’s are possessed by a set of children Afton killed at a Freddy’s location, Circus Baby is possessed by Afton’s own daughter, Elzabeth. This type of lore could be vital for the film franchise.
Five Nights At Freddy’s Director Wants To Make A Sister Location Movie
As it turns out, it isn’t just Circus Baby’s cameo that means a Sister Location movie could happen. Five Nights At Freddy’s director and co-writer Emma Tammi has openly said that she would love to expand the films into the video games’ Sister Location lore. In particular, Tammi told Slashfilm, “I am not closing the door to that at all. I would be so excited to pursue additional films in this world. So, fingers crossed.” Tammi’s commitment only makes the possibility for a Sister Location spinoff greater.
Though the actual confirmation of a Sister Location spinoff, or any other Five Nights At Freddy’s movie for that matter, is in the hands of Hollywood, it seems like a good sign that Tammi has already begun dropping hints towards other Five Nights At Freddy’s lore. Including Circus Baby was not necessary for the first film, but adding that cameo proves that there is plenty to explore in this franchise, and furthermore, people are interested in it. Circus Baby isn’t the only cameo either. The end credits of Five Nights At Freddy’s also implies the introduction of the Puppet and the continuation of the Garret plot.
How A Sister Location Spinoff Can Expand The Five Nights At Freddy’s Franchise
In the end, a Sister Location spinoff would be the perfect way to expand the Five Nights At Freddy’s franchise. While making sequels like Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 is definitely important, choosing Sister Location to be the Five Nights At Freddy’s spinoff is key. This is because Sister Location has the same spooky and quirky energy as Five Nights At Freddy’s but with entirely new characters, storylines, and animatronics. Furthermore, the game delves a bit deeper into villain William Afton’s backstory and lore. Ultimately, Sister Location could easily maintain the hype of the Five Nights At Freddy’s franchise while also giving audiences fresh new stories to enjoy.
