First Naomi Footage In CW 2021-2022 Trailer Reveals DC Hero In Action

A trailer for The CW’s 2021-2022 season includes the first footage of DC’s Naomi. The upcoming series is based on the comics character of the same name. It comes from an impressive creative team including Arrow‘s Jill Blankenship and powerhouse director Ava DuVernay. Naomi stars Army Wives actor Kaci Walfall in the title role, while Cranston Johnson, Barry Watson, and several others round out the cast. The CW series will focus on both Naomi’s everyday life as a high school student and her journey through coming into her powers.

The Naomi series was first announced in December 2020, with both Blankenship and DuVernay involved at that point. It received a pilot order in February, with casting occurring throughout March. In April, DuVernay celebrated the start of filming on the pilot with a first look image. It seems The CW was pleased with Naomi‘s first episode, as it’s now received a series order and is set to premiere in the middle of the 2021-2022 season.

Now, The CW has revealed the first footage from Naomi as part of a trailer celebrating its new and returning shows. Though a small part of the overall video, there are a couple of brief looks at Naomi in action. Check out the trailer below:

The video doesn’t reveal any new details about Naomi, but it is exciting to finally see the first footage from the series. Considering the talented team behind the show, it’s become one of The CW’s most anticipated projects since it was announced last year. It’s hard to imagine Naomi not being a success. Though the character is a newer addition to DC Comics, she’d made quite a splash since she first appeared in 2019 and already has many fans. The CW obviously has a strong track record with comic book adaptations, and Naomi should be right at home alongside the Arrowverse series.

Since the show isn’t scheduled to premiere until midseason, it may be awhile until the network releases more footage from Naomi. However, that doesn’t mean more details about the series won’t be revealed over time. Right now, viewers are excited about the show and its potential, so it would make sense for The CW to capitalize on that by teasing more information. In the meantime, those eager for Naomi‘s premiere can always check out her story in the comics in preparation for watching the series when it debuts next season.
