Firefox Daylight For Android With Enhanced Tracking Protection Rolling Out

Mozilla is now in the process of rolling out Firefox Daylight, a redesign of its Android app. This revamp has added many new features to the browser, as well as added security measures, as you might expect from a company that routinely places an emphasis on security and privacy.

Firefox is known for being a safe browsing service, and that reputation is largely due to its independence from Google and other large corporations. Mozilla creates and designs all aspects of Firefox, which allows the company to add additional privacy protections that are unavailable on other platforms. As a result, those who opt for this as their browser of choice tend to expect to receive a more secure experience in general.

One of the largest new features of the redesign is the Enhanced Tracking Protection that is now available to users of Firefox on Android devices. Firefox claims that this system includes its highest privacy protections ever offered. This service keeps ad trackers on websites unable to function, and it is on by default when the update is downloaded. There are more advanced security measures individuals are able to use from their settings as well, allowing even more trackers, pop-ups and ads to be blocked, and a custom setting allowing users to decide which things they would like blocked from their browsing experience. The updated version is already available in Europe with the update for North American Android users expected to go live on August 27.

Firefox Daylight’s Other Features

The Enhanced Tracking Protection is only one of the new features available to users of Firefox Daylight. There’s also now access to Private Mode from the app’s home screen, which allows users to browse privately with ease. The app also has a faster connection than it did previously. Many features previously only available from the Firefox desktop app are also now available through Firefox Daylight. Dark-mode, which adds an optional dark background to the browsing experience, and picture-in-picture, which lets users play a video in the corner of the screen while browsing and doing other activities with the rest of the display space. There are also many opportunities to make use of add-ons to fully customize and improve the browsing experience, which was also formerly a computer exclusive.

For those that already have downloaded Firefox’s Android App, it will update into Firefox Daylight automatically, providing automatic app updates are enabled. New users will be able to download the updated version from the Google Play store as ‘Firefox for Android’ once it goes live. Mozilla has prepared for this Android update for some time and has been testing it and implementing user feedback in order to create a reliable experience, and now with the release of Firefox Daylight, there are even more reasons to give it a try.
