The sequel film Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children Complete, featuring Cloud and Sephiroth’s incredible rematch, will have screenings in North American theaters in time for FF7: Rebirth‘s release. The 2005 film takes place after the events of the original FF7 game and features some of the most epic fights that helped redefine the franchise. Finally, Cloud and Sephiroth fans in the States will be able to watch the film on the big screen.
FF7: Advent Children takes place two years after the events of the beloved PlayStation 1 classic. Despite being a CGI film made in 2005, director Tetsuya Nomura and his team produced an exciting and visually striking movie that holds up almost 20 years later. The film never saw a theatrical release in the United States. However, that will change when Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children Complete is released in theaters on February 21 and 22, 2024.
In celebration of the upcoming release of Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth, Fandango is hosting FF7: Advent Children Complete screenings, and tickets are on sale now. Select theaters in the US will host showings for the dubbed version on February 21 and the subbed version on February 22. The movie featuring Cloud and Tifa’s struggle against a mysterious trio attempting to resurrect Sephiroth is releasing in theaters in both the United States and Japan. However, Japanese viewers will have much more time to catch a showing, with screenings happening between January 19 – February 1.
Cloud Will Fight Sephiroth In North American Movie Theaters For The First Time
For many FF7 fans in the United States, it will be the first (and possibly only) opportunity to see FF7: AC in a movie theater. The movie is packed with incredible fights that would be great to see at the cinemas, like Tifa vs Loz, the Bahamut battle, and Cloud’s motorcycle chase against Sephiroth’s remnants. Still, the film’s final act features one of the most exciting and over-the-top movie fights between Cloud and Sephiroth that was extended in the Complete version. It is a battle so epic that it should be experienced with surround sound and on a big screen.

Final Fantasy 7: Remake surprised players by not being a faithful remake; instead, it created a new continuity that fans are eager to see grow in the second part of the planned remake trilogy project. Since the events of FF7: AC take place after the story of the original game’s continuity, it’s unclear if the movie’s events will ever be made playable in a game. However, for those who completed FF7: Remake‘s final chapters, the new games are incredibly close to and may even surpass the monumental sense of scale and intensity FF7: AC was able to accomplish.
Advent Children’s Final Battle Is Worth The Ticket Price Alone
Despite FF7: Remake‘s gorgeous visuals and faster action than the original game, FF7: AC is still incredibly entertaining, thanks to its directing and action. Technology has improved a lot since the original film was released in 2005, and thankfully, with a 2021 4K remaster, Advent Children looks better than ever. Hopefully enough excitement is created to add more US showings of the film beyond the two dates in February. That way, more fans can enjoy Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children Complete‘s iconic battles on the big screen and hear One Winged Angel‘s electric guitar solo with a movie theater’s speakers.

A cinematic sequel to the original PlayStation classic Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children takes place two years after the game’s events after the meteor spell cast by Sephiroth lands on earth with humanity starting to rebuild and carry on. A mysterious disease has begun to affect Cloud Strife and several children throughout Midgar, known as Geostigma. When a group of three mysterious men begins kidnapping the afflicted children, it’s uncovered that they intend to use the remains of Jenova, the extraterrestrial villain Sephiroth referred to as mother. Cloud, Tifa, and other friends step up to the challenge to stop their new foes and prevent Sephiroth’s resurrection while finding a cure for the new disease before it’s too late. Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children also acts as a prequel of sorts to the new Final Fantasy 7 Remake through means that have not yet been entirely explained – but will likely become apparent as the new trilogy heads toward its conclusion. The film was released in theaters on September 14 2005.
