Warning: spoilers ahead for Fear The Walking Dead season 8, episode 4.The more Fear The Walking Dead season 8 delves into the inner workings of the villainous PADRE, the more likely The Walking Dead cameo appearances begin to look. Serving as main antagonists in Fear The Walking Dead‘s final season, PADRE is plainly not a community to be trifled with. The group shrouds itself in such an all-encompassing cloak of mystery that few survivors even know it exists, ensuring PADRE’s actual location is kept hidden. Fear The Walking Dead season 8, episode 4, “King County,” not only reveals a crucial geographical detail about PADRE, but teases major franchise cameos in doing so.

Several characters have migrated from The Walking Dead to Fear The Walking Dead, with Morgan, Dwight and Sherry all dropping the main show for its lesser-known spinoff. Actual cameos, however, have been few and far between, with the most notable being Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes, Melissa McBride’s Carol, and Tom Payne’s Jesus briefly featuring in Fear The Walking Dead season 4’s premiere. With the spinoff’s days numbered, that could soon change, and PADRE is making a crossover between shows far more plausible.

PADRE Being Near Alexandria Makes Walking Dead Cameos Possible

In past seasons, Fear The Walking Dead deliberately remained on the opposite end of the United States to The Walking Dead, making a collision of both shows virtually impossible. For Fear The Walking Dead season 8, shooting moved to Savannah, Georgia, and “King County” brings Morgan back to where his story began in The Walking Dead season 1. The geographical distance between shows has now narrowed to the point where communities such as Alexandria and Hilltop are realistically close to Morgan’s location for a reunion to happen.

PADRE’s strength and domination also embolden the chances of characters from The Walking Dead dropping by. Morgan Jones and his fellow survivors are currently struggling to keep ahead of the well-resourced PADRE, and the lingering threat of a thousands-strong zombie horde remains locked in a nearby shipyard. Daniel Salazar may have gathered an army of disgruntled parents, but Morgan might just find the task ahead of him impossible without extra help. By sending a message north to his friends in Alexandria, Morgan can even the odds in his battle against PADRE.

The Walking Dead Ending Has Made Spinoff Cameos More Likely

Another reason behind the lack of The Walking Dead cameos in Fear The Walking Dead is the franchise’s labyrinthine timeline. When both shows were running simultaneously, any guest appearances would have needed to make sense within The Walking Dead‘s continuity. The aforementioned cameos from Rick, Carol and Jesus were only possible due to the peaceful lull that occurred in the wake of Negan’s downfall. Now that The Walking Dead is finished, that problem has vanished faster than Victor Strand during a crisis.

Fear The Walking Dead season 8’s time skip has also allowed the spinoff to catch up to its parent series, meaning no major obstacles currently prevent major The Walking Dead characters from brief guest spots. Cameos from the likes of Aaron, Carol or Gabriel are not only feasible now, but also make sense in the context of Morgan’s current struggle against PADRE and his close ties to The Walking Dead‘s heroes. A crossover represents a perfectly apt way to mark Fear The Walking Dead‘s ending, and would properly tie the two casts together.

Fear The Walking Dead season 8 continues Sunday on AMC.
