The Fear the Walking Dead season 8 cast sees some major changes to the ensemble, with some actors getting bigger roles and others missing from the lineup entirely. A companion series to The Walking Dead, the spinoff revolves around a band of survivors contending with the undead. Set seven years after the previous season, Fear the Walking Dead season 8 takes place on PADRE’s sinister island, where all the characters have been living. Although it started out as a prequel exploring the early days of the zombie apocalypse, Fear the Walking Dead got a soft reboot in season 4 that refocused the spinoff on characters from the flagship series.
Andrew Chambliss and Ian B. Goldberg’s fifth season as showrunners, Fear the Walking Dead season 8 consists of 12 episodes split into two parts of six episodes each. This is the first season not to include Alycia Debnam-Carey as Alicia Clark, Mo Collins as Sarah Rabinowitz, Alexa Nisenson as Charlie, Colby Hollman as Wes, or Keith Carradine as John Dorie Sr., all of whom were in the main cast of previous seasons. The Fear the Walking Dead season 8 cast is headlined by Lennie James, who was first introduced in the pilot episode of the original Walking Dead series, and Kim Dickens, who hadn’t been a regular since season 4.

Lennie James As Morgan Jones / “Nightingale”
Lennie James leads the Fear the Walking Dead season 8 cast as Morgan Jones, a level-headed survivor first introduced on the original Walking Dead series. Morgan was forced to work for PADRE after they abducted his daughter. Outside the Walking Dead franchise, James is best known for playing DCI Tony Gates in Line of Duty season 1. His other TV roles include Glen Boyle on Sky 1’s Critical and Detective Joe Geddes on AMC’s Low Winter Sun. James also created and starred as Nelson “Nelly” Rowe in the crime drama series Save Me, whose second season – Save Me Too – won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Drama Series.
Kim Dickens As Madison Clark / “Lark”
Kim Dickens makes a show-saving return as Madison Clark in the Fear the Walking Dead season 8 cast. A former high school guidance counselor, Madison was imprisoned on PADRE’s island after attempting a revolution. Dickens made her film debut in 1995 with the role of Laurie in Palookaville. She has since played other movie roles like Mrs. Boswell in The Blind Side, Dr. Sarah Kennedy in Hollow Man, Maryann Portman in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and Detective Rhonda Boney, the lead investigator of Amy Dunne’s disappearance, in Gone Girl.
Colman Domingo As Victor Strand
Victor Strand is played by Colman Domingo. After six seasons as an antihero, Victor became a full-blown villain in Fear the Walking Dead season 7. Domingo is best known for playing the pimp Abegunde “X” Olawale in Zola and civil rights activist Ralph Abernathy in Selma. He won an Emmy Award for his performance as Rue’s sponsor, recovering drug addict Ali, in HBO’s Euphoria. He also appeared in the main cast of The Big Gay Sketch Show and played such film roles as Cutler in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Joseph Rivers in If Beale Street Could Talk, and the voice of Unicron in the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts cast.
Danay García As Luciana Galvez
Danay García appears in the Fear the Walking Dead season 8 cast as Luciana Galvez, a former factory worker allied with the survivors. Besides her role as Luci on Fear the Walking Dead, García is best known for her turn as Sofía Lugo in Prison Break, a role she originated in the show’s third season. García’s movie roles include Diana in Spiked, Maria in From Mexico with Love, and Kate Estrada in Sniper: Ultimate Kill. She also voiced Vito Scaletta’s second-in-command, Cuban expatriate Alma Diaz, in the video game Mafia III.
Austin Amelio As Dwight / “Red Kite”
Austin Amelio reprises his role from The Walking Dead as Dwight, a reformed member of the Saviors who was exiled by Rick Grimes’s group and ended up joining PADRE in Fear the Walking Dead. Amelio has made film appearances as Nesbit in Richard Linklater’s spiritual Dazed and Confused sequel Everybody Wants Some!! and the brother of Ryan Gosling’s character BV in Terrence Malick’s experimental romantic drama Song to Song. He has also appeared as himself alongside fellow Walking Dead cast member Norman Reedus in the reality travel series Ride with Norman Reedus.
Karen David As Grace Mukherjee / “Heron”
The Fear the Walking Dead season 8 cast features Karen David as Grace Mukherjee, a former power plant manager whose attempts to keep the power on resulted in a nuclear meltdown. David is best known for her portrayal of Princess Isabella Maria Lucia Elizabetta of Valencia in ABC’s fairy tale musical comedy series Galavant. She also played Cesca Montoya, the Head of Spanish, in the BBC education drama Waterloo Road, Layla in the fantasy actioner The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior, Angela in the ITV dramedy series Cold Feet, and Princess Jasmine in Once Upon a Time season 6.
Christine Evangelista As Sherry / “Starling”
Dwight’s wife Sherry, who fled from the Saviors and now works with him at PADRE, is played by Christine Evangelista. In addition to her role as Sherry in the casts of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, Evangelista is known for playing Megan Morrison, an aspiring actress who’s offered a lucrative contract in exchange for entering a sham marriage with a movie star, in the E! drama series The Arrangement. She is also known for her recurring roles as Allison Rafferty in the firehouse procedural Chicago Fire and Libby Griffith in the supernatural horror series 666 Park Avenue.
Jenna Elfman As June Dorie / “Blue Jay”
Jenna Elfman appears in the Fear the Walking Dead season 8 cast as June Dorie, a suspicious yet kind-hearted nurse on the run from PADRE. Elfman is best known for playing the title role of Dharma in the ABC sitcom Dharma & Greg, which earned her a Golden Globe Award and three Emmy nominations. In films, she played Tanya in Grosse Pointe Blank, Annie in Friends with Benefits, and Kate Houghton in Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Before joining the cast of Fear the Walking Dead in 2018, Elfman played the recurring role of Naomi Walling in Damages.
Rubén Blades As Daniel Salazar
Daniel Salazar, a brave ex-member of Sombra Negra leading a resistance group against PADRE, is played by Rubén Blades. Blades’s other acting roles include Jefe in The Counselor, Carlos Villar in Safe House, and Detective Danny Archuleta in Predator 2. As a musician, Blades has earned 11 Grammy Awards for his work in the salsa and Latin jazz genres, and he wrote Héctor Lavoe’s signature song “El Cantante.” As a politician, he ran for President of Panama in 1994 and was appointed the minister of tourism for a five-year term in 2004.
Fear The Walking Dead Season 8 Supporting Cast & Characters
Maya Eshet as “Shrike” – A high-ranking member of PADRE. Maya Eshet is best known for playing the recurring role of Meredith Walker in the TV adaptation of Teen Wolf, Lommie in the sci-fi horror series Nightflyers, and anorexic patient Pearl in the Netflix drama To the Bone.
Zoey Merchant as Morgan “Mo” / “Wren” – Zoey Merchant appears in the Fear the Walking Dead season 8 cast as Morgan and Grace’s adopted daughter Mo, who was captured by PADRE and trained as a warrior from the age of one. Merchant’s only other acting credit is the role of Aubree in The Price of Fame season 2, episode 7, “Miranda Lambert.”
Jayla Walton as “Dove” – Mo’s tutor. Jayla Walton previously played Kelly in the 2022 comedy-drama thriller 1-800-Hot-Nite.
Jonathan Medina as Adrian – A member of Daniel’s resistance group whose daughter was taken by PADRE. Jonathan Medina is most renowned for playing Tommy Ortiz in The Purge season 2 and Rafa’s pragmatist uncle Jay in the Amazon Freevee coming-of-age sitcom Primo.
Gavin Warren as “Finch” – Gavin Warren appears in the Fear the Walking Dead season 8 cast as Dwight and Sherry’s son, Finch. Warren previously played young Rick Armstrong in First Man.
