FBI: International Season 3 – Release Date, Cast, Story & Everything We Know

Dick Wolf’s FBI franchise is quickly building itself a legacy that might end up on par with Law & Order, so it’s no surprise that FBI: International season 3 is on the way. FBI: International is the second spin-off from FBI on CBS. The series takes the crime procedural outside the United States but retains its case-of-the-week format that has proven so successful for the genre.

FBI: International season 3 will have to pick up after the cliffhanger fans were left with at the end of season 2, which is why the season is so hotly anticipated. It’s expected that most of the cast will return for the series, but there could always be a surprise twist in store. Audience members will have to wait a little longer to find out the fates of the FBI: International season 3 characters, but in the meantime, there is a lot to know about the new season.

The Latest FBI: International Season 3 News

A Main Cast Member is Departing The Series

The latest news surrounding the popular spinoff concerns the cast as FBI: International will be losing an original cast member during season 3. After two successful seasons on the air so far, Heida Reed will be leaving the role of Jamie Kellet early on in FBI: International season 3. Reed’s departure has been described as “Creatively driven“, meaning she is most likely being written out to further the plot and not due to any behind-the-scenes drama.

Who Created FBI: International?

Heida Reed as Jamie Kellett holding a gun in FBI International

FBI: International was created by Dick Wolf (Law & Order) and Derek Haas (Chicago procedurals). While Wolf remains an executive producer on the series, Haas is the showrunner for CBS. Haas has written several episodes of the series in the past and will likely do so for FBI: International season 3 as well. Also acting as executive producers on the series are Peter Jankowski, Arthur Forney, and Rick Eid.

FBI: International Season 3 Story

What Could Happen In Season 3?

Carter Redwood as Andre Raines in FBI International

The second season of the series ended on a major cliffhanger and FBI: International season 3’s story will have to resolve it before moving on. The season finale saw all the team except for Carter Redwood in mortal danger as an explosion went off while they were transporting a witness. Redwood saw the explosion happen but wasn’t in the middle of it. If the events of FBI: International season 3 pick up immediately after season 2, Redwood could be the one trying to track down his team and make sure they’re okay.

Outside of that, however, little is known about the story direction for FBI: International season 3. The series is set primarily in Budapest, Hungary, with the team traveling throughout Europe to investigate criminal activity that could harm Americans abroad. It has crossed over with FBI and FBI: Most Wanted in the past, which could open up even more story possibilities for the third season as well. FBI: International season 3 will likely follow the same mystery of the week format that the previous seasons held, continuing to work criminal cases across European countries.
