Far Cry 6 First Teaser Footage Sets Up Game for UbiForward Reveal

After several leaks, Ubisoft has officially confirmed that Far Cry 6 is happening and will be present at the company’s UbiForward event on July 12th. The publisher behind blockbuster series such as Rainbow Six Siege and Rayman has had a great deal of trouble keeping announcements under lock and key recently. Indeed, it appears as if many firms in the industry have struggled to keep game reveals on the down-low after the cancellation of E3 2020 and the newfound need to create individual publisher-centric events.

That’s evident in Ubisoft not only with the latest (and now official) Far Cry title but also with the company’s hotly-anticipated Assassin’s Creed Valhalla which recently had gameplay leak. While these fumbles are understandably disappointing from an internal perspective, they’ve also played a big role in building excitement for Ubisoft’s big UbiForward event. While there are sure to be some big surprises that await fans at the show, the publisher has released a teaser for the rather dapper-looking Far Cry 6.

The new teaser, posted on Ubisoft’s official Far Cry Twitter account, features a quick glimpse at the game’s new villain. The Far Cry 6 baddie is set to be played by Giancarlo Esposito who is best known for his roles in Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian. While Esposito doesn’t say anything during the brief snippet of footage, his presence is enough to begin generating excitement for his impending role. As part of the confirmation, Ubisoft confirmed that fans will catch their first glimpse of Far Cry 6 (and Esposito) at the UbiForward showcase on Sunday, July 12th at 12pm PST (3pm EST).

Given how Giancarlo Esposito managed to bring Breaking Bad‘s infamous Gus Fring to life, he will likely prove to be some fantastic casting by Ubisoft. Given that the villains are often the most engaging aspect of the Far Cry franchise, this cigar-smoking psychopath could give even the beloved Vaas a run for his money. Of course, some reports and speculation online point to Vaas being featured in Far Cry 6, but time will tell whether that will be the case.

Regardless, it won’t be long now until gamers are knee-deep in Ubisoft game reveals. Shortly after that, they’ll also have plenty of Xbox Game Studios reveals to anticipate on the 23rd and perhaps even a rumored Nintendo Direct. Suffice it to say, July is looking very busy for gamers awaiting reveals.

Far Cry 6 is planned for a formal unveiling at Ubisoft’s UbiForward event on Sunday, July 12th at 12pm PST (3pm EST).
