Far Cry 6 Cinematic Trailer Shows Off Castillo’s Ruthlessness

During the E3 2021 presentation, Ubisoft revealed a new Far Cry 6 cinematic trailer that shows off Antón Castillo’s ruthlessness. Castillo, portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito, will be the antagonist of the upcoming Far Cry 6 later this year. The Far Cry series’ engaging antagonists have been points of praise in the past, and Ubisoft is looking to continue the trend with Castillo.

E3 2021 proved to be the perfect time for Ubisoft to showcase the philosophy and cruelty that the dictator is willing to display towards his own citizens. The trailer also gave fans a look at Castillo’s son, the teenage Diego Castillo, and gave insight into the role the teen will play in the civil war ravaging the tropical nation of Yara.

The trailer, posted by Ubisoft, begins with several Yarans desperately boarding a ship with a young child. As the trailer progresses, the ship is captured by Yara’s dictator Antón and his army. Castillo begins recounting a tale about his father, who loved to fish, and notes that his father always released the fish he caught, except for one day when he caught a particularly impressive marlin. At this point, an older woman tries to interrupt Antón but meets her untimely end. This then leads to the revelation that the child is none other than Diego Castillo, Antón, who the dictator calls his impressive catch.

Diego pleads with his father to spare the passengers, but instead, he compares them to the fish his father would release and has them executed. Outside of the brutal nature of their deaths, the explanation Antón tries to give Diego is just as chilling. Specifically, while Diego is trying to convince his father that the passengers should be spared to be workers, Antón responds with, “They could be good workers. They could help rebuild paradise. But if you wanted them to live  you would have never set foot on this f****** boat.

There has been discourse among fans about who the best Far Cry villain is, but judging by this five-minute cinematic, it appears that Antón Castillo will be making a strong case when the game releases in October 2021. At the time of writing, Diego is also classified as a secondary antagonist; however, he seems to have more compassion for the Yaran people than his father, so it is interesting to see what kind of arc his character will take in Ubisoft‘s Far Cry 6 later this year.
