Family Guy’s Peter Griffin Replaces Jake Gyllenhaal In Freakin’ Sweet Road House Poster Parody

A new Family Guy poster combines Peter Griffin with Jake Gyllenhaal’s Road House. The upcoming movie is a modern remake of Patrick Swayze’s 1989 classic, which earned $61.6 million on a budget of only $15 million. Family Guy regularly references the movie. Uttering the words “Road House” after overwhelming violence has been one of Peter’s catchphrases since 2009.

With a Road House remake a few months away from its March 21 release, Instagram artist bosslogic decided to update one of the movie’s posters. To address Family Guy‘s long-standing connection to the original movie, he added a Seth MacFarlane-inspired spin to the poster.

Featuring Peter Griffin in Gyllenhaal’s place, a realistic-looking Peter lounges in a bar. He has a bloodied face and his knuckles are covered in blood. He has the stance of a boxer preparing for a fight as he stares at the viewer.

Family Guy’s Ties To Road House

This poster isn’t the only thing trying Peter Griffin to Jake Gyllenhaal’s latest movie. For years, he has been oddly infatuated by the original 1989 movie. There is even an entire episode that begins with Griffin buying the movie. In season 8, episode 4, “Brian’s Got a Brand New Bag”, Peter gets a DVD copy and proceeds to believe that kicking can solve all of his problems. Ever since, he has been referencing the episode and kicking random people and things, before proudly saying “Road House“.

The episode even goes so far as to feature Family Guy‘s version of an animated adaptation, as Patrick Swayze’s John Dalton rescues his partner from truckers. The movie has been a serious influence on the show for years, so it is only natural that a viewer would feature Peter in Gyllenhaal’s place. After all, Peter regularly fights the same way that Dalton does, and he has been obsessed with Dalton ever since he first saw him in action.

Family Guy’s 20 Darkest Episodes

Family Guy has a reputation for controversy, but Seth MacFarlane’s animated show really outdid itself with these offensive and/or disturbing episodes.

With the Road House remake just two months away, Family Guy season 22 will have the opportunity to address the new release directly. Of course, whichever episode acknowledges it will likely not feature a pure parody of a single piece of marketing, as this fan-made poster does. Instead, it will likely offer Peter the chance to embrace or reject this new remake. However Family Guy handles the remake, this poster has already done an excellent job.
