Fall TV 2013: Check Out The CW’s New Shows – What Will You Watch?

Despite the successful launch of Arrow, The CW saw another down year, finishing 5th among the English language broadcast networks in total viewers, well behind the rest of the pack. Seemingly content with their demos, though, the network seems to be doubling down, bringing in a slate of similarly skewing shows that also show a bit of ambition and signify a further expansion into the kind of buzzy, Comic-Concentric genre shows like Arrow and Nikita that have done well for them recently.

Indeed, The CW’s 5 freshman dramas include shows that are set in worlds with an X-Men like super-team,  more Vampire Diaries‘ vampires, star crossed aliens, and juvenile delinquents in the post apocalypse. In fact, The CW’s most standard show may actually be Reign, which is a 16th century period piece about Mary Queen of Scots and her time in France.

To help with your quick assessments of each series, we’ve broken the shows down to give you a better idea of what you can expect. It’s creators’ vision which fuels the heart of the show; producers’ responsibility is to help shape those ideas for television audiences; pilot directors set the visual tone for the entire series and paint the picture that other directors follow.
