Fall Guys Goes Offline Temporarily Because Of Season 3 Glitches

The popular battle royale game Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has gone temporarily offline due to of glitches and growing pains in the just-launched Season 3. Mediatonic, the company behind the game, recently unveiled the winter-themed Season 3 last month after fans put a jigsaw puzzle together on Twitter to reveal what was in store for the indie darling. The third season of Fall Guys includes plenty of festive costumes, such as penguins, snowmen, reindeer, candles, and more.

In addition to the new costumes, there are tons of new obstacles and snowy levels. Mediatonic recently discussed the process of designing the obstacles, detailing some of the new obstacles players can expect in Season 3’s new levels, which include flippers, punching gloves, ice tiles, snowballs, and fans, to name a handful. However, fans are going to have to wait just a bit longer before fully experiencing Season 3.

A tweet from the official Fall Guys Twitter account says that Mediatonic has temporarily paused online play because of what it calls “teething issues,” or glitches. The season’s launch largely revolve around the fact that all players are being eliminated, meaning that no one can claim victory. Zero people are qualifying for the next round, so this is ultimately a game-breaking glitch. In the tweet’s replies, some users have shared footage or screenshots of what the glitch entailed. Just before publication time, Fall Guys shared a quick update stating the game is “back online” but with some limited functionality, as “crown ranks are still a bit broken” and the Hex-A-Gone level has been disabled until further notice due to a “physics glitch.”

Although it’s unfortunate that eager players will to wait for Mediatonic to patch the glitches that remain, the Fall Guys‘ team’s quick and effective response has ensured that players can get back to earning their new Season 3 costumes. Based on its launch server difficulties, the studio was no doubt prepared for bugs and an influx of players today, so some type of online issues were likely anticipated.

As usual, the Mediatonic team has shown nothing but flexibility and transparency here, and its loyal playerbase and fans patiently waited rather than resorting to harassment and toxicity. It’s clear that the Fall Guys team wants its game to be functional and fun, even at the cost of turning matchmaking off for a bit to properly sort out problems.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available on PS4 and PC.
