Ezra Miller Appears to Choke A Fan in Controversial Video [UPDATE!]

Ezra Miller was caught on video appearing to choke a woman at a public setting. The actor is now in the middle of a controversy after a video of him allegedly physically assaulting an unknown woman has made the rounds online.

Debuting in 2008’s Afterschool, Miller began to gain name recognition after he co-starred in 2012’s Perks of Being a Wallflower. He also dabbled in comedy in 2015’s Trainwreck. Miller is most notably known, however, for playing Credence Barebones in the Harry Potter prequel film series, Fantastic Beasts where he reprised the role twice and is confirmed for a third outing. He also plays DCEU’s Barry Allen/Flash introducing the role in 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, followed by Justice League. Miller also suited up as the Scarlet Speedster for a cameo CW Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. His standalone movie as the comic book hero The Flash is slated for a 20202 release.

Shared by Twitter user with the handle Ren(aissance) is a five-second clip of Miller straight up choking a woman and then throwing her down on the ground. Prior to attacking the woman, he can be heard saying “did you want to fight?” The video is quite shaky after the commotion and was eventually cut.  Check it out below:

The same source provided some context as to what really happened during the altercation with information allegedly coming from a companion of the woman in the video. Apparently, aside from choking the lady, Miller also spat on them. The actor also showed “scars” from all the recent brawls he’s been in. Meanwhile, a separate screen shot of a tweet from user kylie lampe, who is supposedly the original uploader of the video and was with the woman in question revealed in her tweets that her unnamed friend jokingly goaded Miller to a fight but the actor took it too seriously. Given that the source of these details have yet to be confirmed, it’s best to take it with a healthy dose of salt. Screen Rant has also reached Miller’s publicist for any comment on the matter, but has yet to respond at the time of writing.

While there’s no comment yet from Ezra Miller’s camp, the video in itself isn’t good for his image. Of course the whole incident still needs to be investigated so that everyone can know what exactly led to the altercation, but on face value, seeing a public figure the way he did will certainly cause controversy. Not that this is the first tine that a celebrity behaved badly in a public setting, but regardless of what the whole story is, this is already shaping to be a major PR nightmare for the actor especially with a couple of big name projects on his pipeline. For now, it’s best that people wait for official comments from both sides of the story before they pass any judgment.

Update: While Ezra Miller’s representatives have yet to respond to our request for comment, Variety confirmed that this is indeed Ezra Miller and that the altercation occurred 6PM on April 1, 2020 at Prikið Kaffihús, a bar in Reykjavik, Iceland, where Miller was escorted off the premises.
