Exclusive Clip: Behind the Scenes of Robot Chicken’s The Walking Dead Special

Take a look at this exclusive behind-the-scenes clip, in advance of the Blu-ray and DVD release of The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special: Look Who’s Walking. Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken enjoys a special relationship with popular culture. Although sardonic in its initial approach, the series is often more of a loving homage to genre films and television shows that have had a enormous impact on fans and shown a remarkable kind of staying power when it comes to keeping viewers not only watching, but also talking endlessly about every minutia in their stories.

And while Robot Chicken typically touches on a wide range of topics throughout the season, the show’s specials are there to honor and gently poke fun of genre icons that have become more than blips on the pop cultural radar. And so, the release of The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special: Look Who’s Walking puts AMC’s undying series about the undead apocalypse in special company with one of the biggest franchises ever: Star Wars. And now you can check out how much works goes into making one of these stop-motion specials.

The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special: Look Who’s Walking Blu-ray offers up plenty of extra content and special features, like the behind-the-scenes look into where the show’s writers begin when tackling a one-off episode that’s devoted entirely to a single concept. As it turn out, the process this time around included some special guests, like Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple, who joined creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich in the writers’ room of Look Who’s Walking.

That level of involvement from the show being parodied is unheard of, especially since The Walking didn’t stop with Gimple. If you’ve seen the episode, you know pretty much the entire Walking Dead cast stopped by to poke a little fun at their show and some contributed to the soundtrack, which was released on March 23. Following the successful releases of Robot Chicken: Star Wars Specials and Robot Chicken DC Specials, Adult Swim’s release of The Robot Chicken Walking Dead Special: Look Who’s Walking provides fans with even more of the series that has garnered a cult-like following since its inception in 2005.
