Exclusive: A Trickster Strikes in ASTER AND THE ACCIDENTAL MAGIC

What happens when a child’s adventure into a mysterious forest, best friend at her side, suddenly transforms into a life-changing fairy tale they could never have predicted? If you’re a teenager or adult… you get the Power Rangers reboot. But when it’s Middle Grade readers who are being told the story, the result is Aster and the Accidental Magic, the latest release from Random House Graphic.

The new imprint from Random House Children’s Books has set a new mission to put a graphic novel into the hands of every child and young adult reader possible. That’s no small feat, considering the market is one even heavyweights Marvel and DC Comics have struggled to supply. But Random House Graphic has already gathered an impressive roster of writers, artists, and storytellers to capture the imagination (and attention) of young readers, and the latest from writer Thom Pico and artist Karensac shows why. Aster and the Accidental Magic is available today in your local bookstore, but Screen Rant is pleased to offer an exclusive preview, showing just what kind of trouble comes when a curious girl meets a wish-granting trickster.

Described by Random House Graphic as “a fun, action-packed fantasy adventure about a girl, her dog, and magic gone wrong,” our preview shows almost every aspect on the page itself.  When Aster’s parents move the family to ‘the middle of nowhere,’ she is left with little to do… and nobody to do it with. As luck would have it, Aster meets a mysterious old woman in possession of a herd of dogs. Entrusting one to Aster, she soon finds herself chasing her canine protector through a strange forest. arriving (accidentally) at the aforementioned trickster spirit. Offering the young girl three wishes, Aster decides the only thing better than having a dog… would be speaking to it. Needless to say, things go off the rails from there.
