Despite episode one of A Gentleman in Moscow debuting only a few days ago, McGregor already has his next TV project lined up. Entitled Lodi, the series is expected to find its way onto Amazon Prime Video later this year. Lodi will take place in the 1970s, with McGregor playing the role of an ordinary man turned FBI informant. Though very few details about the series are known, if history is anything to go by, Lodi is an almost guaranteed success. When it comes to TV, McGregor has enjoyed nothing but hits, and his Rotten Tomatoes record proves this. Since the actor’s first TV credit in an episode of the anthology series Tales of the Crypt in 1996, McGregor has not once starred in a “rotten” show (i.e. a show with a score less than 60%).

Each one of the star’s credits, including his best-known shows such as Fargo and Obi-Wan Kenobi, have all been deemed fresh. Halston, the 2021 Netflix miniseries, is the closest McGregor has come to a rotten show, but even that holds a score of 67%. If Lodi’s premise alone wasn’t exciting enough, these figures undoubtedly prove the show has promise; McGregor has something of a magic touch when it comes to picking television projects. While only time will tell whether Lodi has what it takes to be a hit, with the actor’s involvement, chances are good it will.

Arguably, comparing McGregor’s film work to his TV work isn’t entirely fair. For starters, McGregor has appeared in far more films than TV shows over the years. In total, the actor has worked in over 70 movies, ten times more than the number of TV shows he’s been in. Furthermore, Rotten Tomatoes scores are just one method of gauging a project’s success. Lodi might go on to accumulate a Rotten Tomatoes score as high as A Gentleman in Moscow or other titles in McGregor’s filmography, but if no one watches it, it won’t be a hit.
