Evil creators the Kings respond to the show ending after season 4, and promise closure with extra episodes. Paramount+’s paranormal mystery series originally aired on CBS before shifting over to the streamer in 2021. Back in February, it was revealed that the network had decided that the show’s upcoming season 4 would be its last. On the bright side, it was announced that the show’s final run will be super-sized, with four extra episodes bringing the season’s total to 14.
With Evil season 4 set to be the show’s last go-around, creators Robert and Michelle King spoke recently to TV’s Top 5 podcast (via TVLine) about how they plan to wrap up the series, saying they’ll use those four extra episodes like a mini season 5 to give fans “a sense of closure.” They say Paramount+ gave the show more episodes to give it “a chance to wrap up in a way that honored the show.”
Could Evil Season 5 Still Happen Properly At A Different Streamer?
Evil star Katja Herbers made her feelings known about Paramount+’s move to cancel the show after season 4, posting a since-deleted tweet in which she courted other potential streaming homes, specifically calling on Netflix to pick up the show. “Care to snatch up the goods??” Herbers tweeted at Netflix before taking down the message.
Evil fans would love to see Netflix, or some other streamer, give the show another chance. However, the Kings say they are not currently shopping the show around. Michelle said, “At this point, we’re just focused on making that last fifth season as satisfying to the audience and to ourselves — and the actors — as we can.”
It’s good news that Paramount+ did honor the Kings and their creation by giving them four extra episodes. But Evil is a show that has plenty of story left to tell, and could easily offer a full season 5, and perhaps beyond. It’s yet to be seen if another streamer will take Herbers up on her challenge, and let Evil season 4 not be the last. The show’s fanbase is large enough that someone might pick it up. However, the Kings say they are not currently looking for a new home, so it seems that Evil truly is dead.
