Everything We Learned From The New Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer

Everything We Learned From The New Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer

At DC FanDome 2020, Warner Bros. introduced the new Wonder Woman 1984 trailer. The trailer showed a lot of new scenes from the upcoming DC movie and finally let fans see Cheetah as well as more looks at Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman, Steve Trevor, and Maxwell Lord.

The DC FanDome 2020 event also consisted of an online panel with the actors, filmmakers, and even the original Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter. They talked a great deal about what fans can expect from the next DCEU movie, including the new Wonder Woman 1984 trailer.

THE LOOK OF CHEETAH

Everything We Learned From The New Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer

The first Wonder Woman 1984 trailer didn’t show anything about Cheetah, and only showed Barbara Ann Minerva (Kristen Wigg). However, after a few scenes in this new DC FanDome trailer with Barabra, the trainer finally ended with Wonder Woman preparing to battle Barbara as the fully transformed Cheetah. As Wonder Woman asks what she did, Cheetah proved to be athletic and mutated, an almost duplicate of the comic book version.

MAXWELL LORD GIVES CHEETAH POWERS

The question is how Cheetah got her powers. While that question still hasn’t been answered yet, there was a scene that showed likely who was responsible for it happening. There is a scene with Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) on what looks like an airplane talking to none other than Barbara Ann Minerva.

Earlier in the trailer, he seemed to be offering people anything that they wanted. Barbara wanted more than what she had, and it looks like Lord gave it to her, although how this happened is still to be determined.

MAXWELL IS PULLING THE STRINGS

Wonder Woman 1984 Maxwell Lord

Wonder Woman vs. Cheetah is the selling point of this movie, but that won’t be the big battle. A simple is the first movie, where Wonder Woman fought some minor villains before she finally faced the big Ares in the end. This movie will surely lead Wonder Woman through Cheetah before having to face the dangers of Maxwell Lord, who seems to be turning the world against Wonder Woman if the trailer gives us any indication.

MAXWELL LORD IN THE GOVERNMENT?

Wonder Woman Maxwell Lord Powers

How Maxwell Lord gets away with everything is still to be learned. However, there are at least two scenes in the trailer that make it look like Lord is doing his dirty work from political office. Early in the promotion of the film, word hit that Pascal was playing Lord like the ’80s-era business tycoon, Donald Trump.

It may go deeper than that. There is a scene where it looks like Lord is using some sort of power from behind the Presidential seal. Could he be the U.S. President in Wonder Woman 1984? There is also a scene where it looks like Wonder Woman is battling Secret Service officers.

WONDER WOMAN IS DISGRACED?

As Maxwell Lord said, he was offering the world what they wanted. However, when it comes to Diana, she never wanted anything handed to her. She is the person who steps up and stops someone like Maxwell Lord from taking over the world with promises and threats. The trailer showed that Diana was fighting what looked like law enforcement officials, and if Lord has controlled people with his promises, he becomes the hero in their eyes, not Wonder Woman.

MORE ABOUT WONDER WOMAN’S GOLDEN SUIT

In the first Wonder Woman 1984 trailer, there was a brief look at Diana wearing golden armor. This is straight out of the comics and is a ceremonial battle armor gifted to Wonder Woman. She wears it in the comics whenever she battles powerful villains. In the new DC FanDome trailer, there is a longer look as she wears it against Cheetah. The wings are removable, and it looks like she is using it due to Barbara’s power upgrades.

WONDER WOMAN WITH NEW POWERS?

Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer Diana Rides the Lightning

Wonder Woman turned some heads when she seemed to be riding the lightning in the first trailer. Was this something that was a slight-of-eye in the trailer? This was shown close up in the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer, proving Diana was indeed using her lasso to ride the lightning across the sky.

Some wondered how this is possible, but she is the daughter of Zeus. There is also a scene where Wonder Woman uses her lasso like Spider-Man uses his web-shooters to fly across the sky. There are also hints the invisible jet might be on the way as well.

WONDER WOMAN VS. CHEETAH IS ABOUT JEALOUSY

Kristin Wiig as Barbara Minerva aka Cheetah in Wonder Woman 1984

Barbara made some comments in the sequel’s trailer where she said that Diana always had everything while people like her had nothing. She finished by saying that it is now her turn. This is a significant change from the first trailer where Diana and Barbara seemed to be close and friendly with each other. Something had to have happened, and it looks like it was simple jealousy that created the Cheetah.

THERE WILL BE MORE THEMYSCIRA SCENES

Wonder Woman 1984 Trailer Amazons Training

For people who loved the scenes with the Amazons in Themyscira, the good news is that they are back. There appear to be flashback scenes, as Diana was not allowed to return home once she left the island to save the world of men in the first movie. The best news is that the Wonder Woman 1984 trailer with Themyscira include what looks like the Olympic Games and consists of the young Diana competing against adults, and in all likely cases, comes out triumphant.

MORE FISH-OUT-OF-WATER STEVE

Chris Pine as Steve Trevor wearing a fanny pack in Wonder Woman 1984

The first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984 showed Steve Trevor as a fish out of water confused at ’80s artwork as well as confusing a trashcan with an art piece at one point. That didn’t change in the DC FanDome 2020 trailer, as he was the brunt of another joke. This time he was trying to dress like the ’80s, first with his Miami Vice outfit and then with parachute pants, where he was baffled. Hopefully, he gets a little respect as the war hero that he is.
