Everything We Know About Loki Season 3

Everything We Know About Loki Season 3

After the release of Phase 5’s Loki season 2, it’s possible that the God of Mischief’s MCU journey could continue in season 3 of his popular solo Disney+ series. Tom Hiddleston has portrayed Loki since 2011’s Thor, initially depicted as a villain in the MCU, but eventually going through a redemptive arc that has now seen him become one of the most integral heroes to the Multiverse Saga. Marvel Studios’ expansion onto Disney+ in Phase 4 saw Loki receive his first solo project, and Loki has been heralded as one of Phase 4’s strongest additions, focusing on the variant of Loki who escaped from 2012 during Avengers: Endgame’s Time Heist.

Loki season 1 premiered on June 9, 2021, and featured the titular God of Mischief exploring the new realm of the Time Variance Authority, coming face-to-face with his own multiversal variants, and eventually facilitating the introduction of the MCU’s first variant of Kang the Conqueror: He Who Remains. The events of Loki season 1’s finale allowed the multiverse shenanigans of Phases 4 and 5 to unfold, and Loki season 2 is expected to expand on this even further. Hiddleston’s Loki is currently the only MCU character to receive two seasons on Disney+, with Loki season 2 premiering on October 5, 2023, which could set the stage for Loki season 3.

Loki Season 3 Has Not Been Confirmed By Marvel

Everything We Know About Loki Season 3

Marvel Studios has currently made no comment on whether Loki will continue his story in Loki season 3. The development of the series’ second season was confirmed in season 1’s finale, so the same could occur at the end of Loki season 2. The series is set to come to conclude on November 9, 2023, so an announcement could come then. If Loki season 3 is put into development, it likely wouldn’t premiere until the MCU’s Phase 6, though there’s been speculation that Hiddleston could return to the big screen for 2026’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, so the fate of Loki season 3 remains to be seen.

Loki Season 3 Predicted Release Date

Loki season 1 premiered on June 9, 2021, as part of the MCU’s Phase 4, followed by season 2 which premieres on October 5, 2023, in Phase 5. This two-year-gap suggests Loki season 3 could release in 2025 or 2026 as part of Phase 6. However, there is a backlog of Marvel Studios projects waiting to be finalized and released in the lead-up to Phase 6, many of which have been pushed back by delays and recent striking in Hollywood. With future series’ including Nova, and Wonder Man not yet having release dates, it’s possible there may not be space for Loki season 3 in the Multiverse Saga.

Loki Season 3 Cast: Who Can Return?

Jonathan Majors' Victor Timely in Loki season 2

The entire principal cast from Loki season 1 will be returning for the second season, which suggests they would all likely return for Loki season 3, too. Tom Hiddleston leads the charge as the titular God of Mischief, though Sophia Di Martino portrays his female variant, Sylvie, and it’s possible previous variants portrayed by Richard E. Grant, DeObia Oparei, and Jack Veal could also return. Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors also has a prominent role in Loki, portraying different variants of the Multiverse Saga’s overarching villain, though his future in the franchise is uncertain following his March arrest and assault allegations.

Loki season 3 would likely see the return of Owen Wilson as TVA agent Mobius M. Mobius, Wunmi Mosaku as high-ranking TVA Hunter B-15, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Judge Ravonna Renslayer. Loki season 2 is expected to explore these characters in much more detail, particularly after season 1 revealed that everyone working for the TVA had previously had a life on the Sacred Timeline. Tara Strong could also reprise her voice role of the anthropomorphic mascot of the TVA, Miss Minutes, and MCU newcomers Ke Huy Quan and Rafael Casal may have bright futures as Ouroboros, a.k.a. OB, and Brad Wolfe, respectively, following their debuts in Loki season 2.

Loki Season 3 Story: How Season 2 Sets It Up

Loki and Mobius in the past in Loki season 2

Loki season 1 included many twists and turns, particularly introducing the Multiverse Saga’s primary villain in the season’s finale, so it’s unclear what direction Loki season 2 could take, and how it might set the stage for Loki season 3. Season 1 debuted He Who Remains, and season 2 is introducing Victor Timely to the MCU, so it’s possible that further Kang variants could appear in season 3 before Phase 6’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. This would cement the fact that Loki is perhaps the Multiverse Saga’s most important series, as it unleashed the multiverse in Phase 4, and could bring the Multiverse Saga to a close in Phase 6.
