Everything We Know About Creepshow Season 2

Shudder’s anthology horror series Creepshow, based on the classic George Romero movie, returns soon for season 2, and here’s what we know so far. It was summer 2018 when Creepshow‘s jump to the small screen was first announced, and thankfully, most fans would now agree that the project was a worthwhile endeavor to embark on. The Creepshow brand was overdue for a recovery after 2006 saw the release of Creepshow 3, a terrible sequel made possible due to a quirk in the franchise’s naming rights that was completely unconnected to anyone involved with the first two films.

Thankfully, the Creepshow name is now back in good hands, those being distributor Shudder and executive producer Greg Nicotero, who began his career as a celebrated special effects artist and had actually worked on Creepshow 2. Season 1 of Creepshow premiered on Shudder on September 26, 2019, and ended on Halloween night. Among the stories told were adaptations of shorts by Stephen King, Joe Hill, and Joe R. Landsdale, with multiple directors taking part, including Nicotero himself and his old mentor Tom Savini.

Now, Creepshow season 2 is on the horizon, promising a new crop of terror tales for Shudder subscribers to stream. Here’s everything we know about season 2.

Creepshow Season 2 Release Date

After season 1 received positive marks from both critics and horror fans, it was no surprise when Shudder announced that Creepshow season 2 was officially happening on October 30, 2019, just a day before the season 1 finale dropped. Creepshow season 2 doesn’t have a specific premiere date yet, although a 2020 release seemed likely. That was until the Coronavirus pandemic forced production on season 2 to halt in early April. At the moment, it’s unclear exactly when Creepshow season 2 will debut.

No official details have been released on what Creepshow season 2’s various stories will include, but there’s enough info to make a few educated guesses. For one, Greg Nicotero released a behind the scenes video of an amazingly cool giant spider puppet in early April 2020, promising that the big monstrosity will play a role in a season 2 story. Additionally, it was reported prior to season 1’s release that Creepshow would adapt the Stephen King short Survivor Type, and since that didn’t end up part of season 1, it could well be part of season 2. That story concerns a man marooned on an island that slowly descends into madness, and begins eating his own body. Nicotero has also said before that he had an idea for a prequel to the Creepshow movie story “The Crate,” but that rights issues were holding it up. One wonders if those issues have been cleared up yet.
