Everything Fall Guys’ Mid-Season Update Changes

Mediatonic, the developers of Fall Guys, just dropped a big Season 1 mid-season update, which should help curve most fans’ hunger for Season 2. This mid-season update brings a lot of changes to the game, especially since it adds Epic’s Easy Anti-Cheat, the same anti-cheat used by Fortnite. This addition will hopefully allow players to enjoy the game as intended, now that they don’t have to worry as much about someone flying up to the finish line.

The Fall Guys mid-season update not only did a better job of addressing cheaters than their failed Cheater Island, but it also included some much needed quality of life changes, a few of which seem to focus on the improvement of network stability across all systems. PlayStation had a bit more work done in this department in relation to creating parties, but network issues and disconnections between rounds should be lower all around with this latest Fall Guys update. Another quality of life change, this time applying only to PC, is the addition of an ability for players to bind game actions to mouse buttons. This should make grabbing friends and diving over finish lines even easier for PC players. Quality of life and cheater protection improvements aren’t all that this update addresses though, as patch notes in the Fall Guys Discord server also mention changes to rounds and round variety.

Those who have already hopped into Fall Guys and experienced the mid-season update might have noticed that rounds feel different from before. According to the patch notes, one of the reasons for this is due to a decreased minimum player count for some levels. This means that rounds like See Saw or Dizzy heights might appear later than usual. Another reason that rounds might feel different is that the update also added new obstacles, which actually change dynamically from one playthrough to the next. This means that rounds like Rock ‘N’ Roll might have bouncy poles one playthrough and none the next. Instead, a new round might have some odd obstacle.

What Big Yeetus Is In Fall Guys

Another major addition to Fall Guys with this mid-season update is a popular obstacle from twitter, Big Yeetus. Big Yeetus is an enormous spinning hammer that can launch players across the map, helping and hindering them in equal parts. It won’t always be in rounds either, but, just like other obstacles this update, it can show up at random to spice things up. The patch notes mention that the developers at Mediatonic are planning to expand on this system of dynamic obstacles in the future, so fans can look forward to their favorite rounds staying interesting for some time yet.

This Season 1 mid-season update of Fall Guys seems to focus on making the game an all around better experience. Old rounds are rejuvenated with new obstacles and lowered minimum player requirements, the issue of cheaters has been dealt with, and quality of life is over all much better than before. The update even includes a change in Fall Ball’s timer, as it went from an exhausting 150 seconds to a more manageable 120. Since all of these improvements came from a mid-season update, it’s even more exciting to think about what’s going to come in Fall Guys Season 2. Fortunately, the time should pass plenty fast with content like Big Yeetus keeping fans occupied.
