Everyone Saw This Breakup Coming On Love Is Blind Season 5 (They Were Doomed From The Start)

WARNING- SPOILERS FOR LOVE IS BLIND SEASON 5 EPISODES 5-7 AHEAD!

Love Is Blind season 5 is already full of drama, and one couple broke up shortly after getting engaged in the pods. As one of the 20 best reality TV shows, it’s no wonder interest in each of the Love Is Blind couples is soaring. Similarly to Zack Goytowski and Irina Solomonova on Love Is Blind season 4, sometimes, a connection isn’t what it seemed to be before meeting face to face. The three couples to leave the pods engaged were Taylor Rue and Jared “JP” Pierce, Lydia Velez Gonzalez and James Milton Johnson IV, and Stacy Snyder and Izzy Zapata.

Taylor and JP connected and became engaged quickly, bonding over Taylor teaching where JP attended kindergarten. Stacy and Izzy had a more tumultuous journey, as Izzy also formed relationships with Johnie Maraist and Lydia. Despite her disappointment in being rejected by Izzy, Lydia matched with fellow STEM-minded Milton. Which of the three couples broke up after the trip?

Taylor And JP Had Nothing In Common

Taylor and JP showed little personality during their time in the pods. The 26-year-old kindergarten teacher and 32-year-old firefighter were eager to be married, but there wasn’t much information about either. JP clearly had an affinity for the American flag, which he showcased by regularly donning an item of clothing with the pattern. Taylor’s vulnerability showed through her admittance that she used to have deep insecurities, but she overcame them. It was unclear how much they had in common because they didn’t seem to engage in deep conversations.

JP Thought Taylor Was Fake

Unfortunately, when Taylor and JP met, it was clear that something was off between them. After their terse kiss, they endured an equally awkward conversation. Taylor, clearly the chatty one, tried to engage JP, but he remained stunted and short in his communication. This uncomfortable back and forth only worsened on the trip to Mexico, where Taylor broke down that whatever connection they had in the pods had virtually disappeared. JP admitted he didn’t like the amount of makeup she wore and said it came across as fake. Shocked and downtrodden, Taylor decided to end the engagement.

While JP and Taylor seemed most sure of their engagement in the pods, they were the quickest to crumble in the real world. Even though Izzy endured tough conversations and decisions, it made his commitment to Stacy stronger. Taylor and JP’s smooth sailing may have been their downfall. While it seems unfair that JP assumed Taylor was fake because of heavy makeup, women are held to ever-changing beauty standards, and Taylor was just presenting herself in the way that made her feel most comfortable and attractive, especially when appearing on TV. Hopefully, Taylor and JP can find their perfect partner outside the confines of Love Is Blind season 5.
