Google recently expanded Stadia support to millions of smartphones. For those interested in giving the game-streaming service a try, now might be the time to do so. Here’s the full list of Google Stadia compatible smartphones.
Google launched Stadia in late 2019 as a cloud-based solution for gamers. One of the key components of the service is the ability to play without having to invest in additional (and often expensive) hardware. Instead, gamers can make use of their existing devices and still play many popular games. In spite of this being a major selling point for the service, the lack of smartphone support has been an issue plaguing Stadia ever since launch.
While the problem of phone support is expected to correct itself as newer models arrive, that has not been much of a help to those wanting to try the service now. However, the issue has now been reduced a little thanks to Google confirming support for a variety of ASUS, Razer and Samsung smartphones, including the latest Galaxy S20 series.
Smartphones Currently Compatible With Google Stadia
When it comes to smartphones, Stadia had previously been reserved to just Google’s own line of Pixel phones. In February, that support widened with Google adding a variety of new smartphones to the compatible list. As a result, there are now more than 20 Android phones that work with Stadia, making the service available to millions more devices and users.

This latest expansion will massively increase the appeal of Stadia for many more users although it is still missing one large user base, iOS. It also still remains unclear when, or even if, Apple iPhone users will be able to get in on the Stadia action. In contrast, the big winner from the latest support is Samsung, with many of its Galaxy S and Galaxy Note models now Stadia-ready.
What’s more, as the Samsung compatibility now extends as far back as the Galaxy S8, that’s good news for owners of older phones in general. The Galaxy S8 is one of the few recent Samsung phones that have yet to receive an update to the latest Android version. Due to this, the widening of support not only highlights an expansion beyond Google Pixel phones, but also to third-party devices not currently running Android 10. That’s good news for owners of older Android devices who might have been concerned that a lack of an Android 10 update would stop them playing Google Stadia on their smartphone.
