Every New Silent Hill Game Coming In 2023 & Beyond

The Silent Hill franchise is back, and while Silent Hills and P.T are still languishing in purgatory, the franchise as a whole is making a comeback with new games and a remake of one of the best entries in the series. Konami clearly couldn’t keep all of these amazing announcements to itself, as the contents of the Silent Hill Transmission stream were leaked by Konami in the YouTube description and Metadata of the page before the announcements even went live. Still, the fans only learned the names of some of the projects, and their contents weren’t fully revealed until the Silent Hill Transmission was broadcast.

The return of the Silent Hill franchise has been one of the worst-kept secrets in the industry, thanks to a number of high-profile leaks that have happened over the past year. The last mainline entry in the series that was released was 2012’s Silent Hill: Downpour, and the demise of Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hills project seemed to signal the end of the franchise. There have been numerous leaks regarding a new Silent Hill project, as well as a Silent Hill 2 remake project in the works by Bloober Team.

The Silent Hill Transmission is now available on the official Silent Hill YouTube channel, and it featured announcements for different multimedia projects. Alongside the games, there was information about the upcoming Return to Silent Hill movie, an interactive series called Silent Hill: Ascension, and a ton of Silent Hill merchandise. The fans tuned in for the game announcements and Konami didn’t let the side down, save for maybe in the release date and platform department.

The show kicked off with the announcement that vindicated countless leaks, as the rumored Silent Hill 2 Remake is on the way. The game is being developed by Bloober Team, a studio whose games are heavily inspired by the Silent Hill series, especially 2021’s The Medium. Silent Hill 2 is a remake of the classic horror title, with overhauled visuals that put it on par with current games. There is currently no release date for Silent Hill 2, but it will be a PS5 console exclusive (at least for the first year) and will come to PC via Steam.

There had been rumors of a Silent Hill game being made by Annapurna Interactive in the past and they turned out to be true. The Silent Hill Transmission announced this game as Silent Hill: Townfall, but the trailer wasn’t particularly illuminating, as it only showed scary images on a portable television. There is no word regarding genre, platforms, or release date. Silent Hill: Townfall is being co-developed by Annapurna Interactive (Stray) and No Code Studios (Observation, Stories Untold). A brief video featuring No Code Studios was shown, but it didn’t offer much information about the game, save that fans can expect to learn more in the new year.

Silent Hill F Is A New Silent Hill Set In 1960s Japan

The Silent Hill Transmission closed with an announcement for Silent Hill‘s newest real game entry, called Silent Hill F, which is written by visual novel writer Ryūkishi07. The game is set in 1960s Japan, so it’s unclear how it will fit into the rest of the series, considering Silent Hill itself has always been a town set in the USA. The trailer shows what looks like a schoolgirl walking through an abandoned town, as red flowers grasp and encircle everything. The overall theme involves flowers growing out of human skin, with the final shot showing a girl covered in plants, as her face slowly sloughs off. As is the case with Silent Hill: Townfall, Silent Hill F has no platforms or release date. While this leaves fans waiting for more Silent Hill without any hard dates, there is at least plenty to look forward to.
