“give it back” Showcases A Refreshing Montage Of Beach Fun And Laughter

By Cö shu Nie, season one’s second ending

This touching season one ending theme beautifully captures the friendships between the sorcerers at Jujutsu High. In particular, it focuses on Megumi, Nobara, and Yuji. The video is designed to look like phone videos being recorded, as if Yuji is filming these touching and tender moments on his phone to keep the memories forever. This is one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s slower paced endings, with a soothing beat.

Although this theme is quite simple and not as action-packed as the others, it is a refreshing respite from the darker subject matter often portrayed in Jujutsu Kaisen. These characters may be powerful sorcerers battling devious curses, but they are also just normal high school kids. “give it back” gives the heroes a much-needed break from all the bloodshed in a delightfully adorable montage of fun beach days and silly instances of laughter.

“VIVID VICE” Is A Whirlwind Of Action And Drama

By Who-ya Extended, season one’s second opening

“VIVID VICE” is Jujutsu Kaisen’s second opening theme, starting the second half of season one off with a bang. This fast moving introduction shows talented jujutsu sorcerers, including Yuji, Toge, and Todo engaging in frightening battles. One of the most evil cursed spirits, Mahito, is introduced at this point in the show, and he makes a terrifying appearance in this theme as well.

With a catchy, fast-moving musical number from Who-ya Extended, this dynamic introduction perfectly sets up the final episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen’s first season. It even includes hints towards plot points that are soon to occur in the show, such as scenes of Yuji and Todo battling Hanami, and Gojo utilizing his visually astonishing Hollow Purple technique. Although it ranks lower than other openings, this theme still includes great uses of foreshadowing, hyping fans up beyond belief for upcoming episodes.

“more than words” Waves Goodbye To Yuji’s Carefree Childhood

By Hitsujibungaku, season two’s second ending

“more than words” is somewhat similar to “give it back,” since it features a comparable montage of charming youthful moments. Yuji, Megumi, and Nobara stroll around the city, taking numerous photographs and posing in front of landmarks. However, this beautiful theme goes deeper than a simple photo album of precious instances in Yuji’s life.

At the beginning of the video, Yuji is walking forward, but at the end, his back is facing at the camera. This symbolizes the young hero sadly being forced to turn his back on his those carefree days of childhood, which seems especially pertinent as the sorcerer heads into the cruelty and danger rampant in the upcoming Culling Games arc. Yuji has lost mentors, friends, and his untroubled nature, and this ending displays a sobering final farewell to those past times he was able to enjoy peacefully.

5
“Kaikai Kitan” Helps Hook Fans From The Very Beginning Of The First Episode

By Eve, season one’s first opening

The series’ first ever opening, “Kaikai Kitan,” is an exceptional introduction to Jujutsu Kaisen. It includes frames of all the major characters featured in season one. Some of the best moments of the opening include Nanami thoughtfully sitting and reading in his study, Toge unzipping his face covering and unleashing his Cursed Speech technique, and Yuji fighting back Sukuna from taking complete control of his body.

This unforgettable opening is many fans’ favorite, due to its snappy tune, fluid animation, and how flawlessly it explains each character’s demeanor and personality in just a few seconds. The first opening of an anime can make or break whether viewers continue watching, and thankfully “Kaikai Kitan” is magnificient enough to hook fans into watching more. Elements such as action scenes, Cursed Techniques, and insight into the sorcerers’ lives and interests make this an opening worth rewatching again and again.

“LOST IN PARADISE” Dance Montage Is Both Fun And Meaningful

By ALI ft. AKLO, season one’s first ending

“LOST IN PARADISE” is just plain fun, as well as being arguably the most art-inspired and unique ending in Jujutsu Kaisen. The theme is animated in a sketchbook drawing style, showcasing main characters; Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, and Gojo Satoru, all playfully dancing around. The bright, crisp colors and artistically creative animation style of this video make this ending a true visual treat.

This opening is simple but subtly shows the style and demeanor of each of the four main characters very well. For example, Gojo’s dancing is elaborate and confident with lots of hand movements, while Nobara carries a mountain of paper bags, indicating her avid love of shopping. The song itself is also sure to get stuck in fans’ heads for hours after listening, making it one of the best Jujutsu Kaisen endings and one that is sure to be on repeat.

3
“Akari” Features The Bittersweet Ending Of Gojo’s Youthful Days

By Soushi Sakiyama, season two’s first ending

“Akari” is one of the two themes that feature a flashback to Gojo Satoru’s high school days at Jujutsu High. The beginning of the video features charmingly cute illustrations of Satoru and Geto Suguru in the rain with umbrellas, as Satoru bends down to pet a cat. Although many of the memories in “Akari” are delightful and joyous, such as the friends taking selfies and playing on arcade machines, this represents the calm before the impending storm.

One scene towards the end of the theme shows Gojo, Geto, and their friend, Shoko Ieiri, all walking off in separate directions and waving back at one another, to symbolize their separation. This is more than an innocuous see-you-later, it hints at the events of the Hidden Inventory arc, including Geto leaving Jujutsu High entirely to form a cult bent on eradicating all non-sorcerers. Similar to “more than words,” which reveals Yuji waving goodbye to his childhood, “Akari” seems to be Gojo’s touching goodbye to his innocent youth, making it one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s best and most bittersweet endings.

“Ao No Sumika” Highlights Gojo and Geto’s Previous Inseparable Bond

By Tatsuya Kitani, season two’s first opening

“Ao No Sumika” is one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s greatest and most popular endings, featured at the very beginning of the long-anticipated second season of the anime. Translated in English as “Where Our Blue Is,” this blue-hued montage of high school fun shows Gojo and Geto at their happiest and most vibrant. The opening includes other Jujutsu High students too, including Shoko, but the focus is on the best friend duo.

Gojo and Geto ride bikes, crash through buildings and exorcise curses, and share laughter and amusement together. The tune of the opening is also unforgettable and captivating, with a peppy beat that matches the humorous and lighthearted whirlwind of high school memories flawlessly. Many of the events in the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death and Shibuya Incident arcs are heartbreaking. However, this is one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s best introductions because not only is it unforgettably cheerful and friendship-filled, it also shows fans the strongest sorcerer’s origin story and some of the loveliest times in his life, prior to the later hardships he faced.

“SPECIALZ” Is the Ominous Intro to the Shibuya Incident

By King Gnu, season two’s second opening

“SPECIALZ” has become immensely recognizable. It has even been the subject of countless internet memes since season two of Jujutsu Kaisen was released. The iconic second opening of season two has certainly achieved this legendary status for good reason. The red-hued animation style gives the theme an ominous feeling, that syncs up with the death-filled horrors of the Shibuya Incident arc, Jujutsu Kaisen’s most catastrophically tragic anime arc yet.

The frightening opening is action-packed from start to finish, featuring clashes between the evil cursed spirit Mahito and the main character Yuji, and quick introductions to brand-new characters like Choso Kamo. Although the music is fun to sing along to, the lyrics and visuals of the opening itself are appropriately grim, conveying the dark nature of the events in the Shibuya Incident arc. Not only is the theme visually enthralling, the vocals and music provided by King Gnu are top-notch, creating one of anime’s most unforgettable songs.

With the catchiest tune fans will recognize just from the first few notes, stellar vocals, fantastic animation, and hints at the horrifying events to come in season two, “SPECIALZ” is Jujutsu Kaisen’s best opening.
