Every Death In Chucky Season 1

Every Death In Chucky Season 1

Warning: SPOILERS for the Chucky season 1.

SyFy’s Child’s Play spinoff, Chucky season 1 officially brought the franchise to the small screen — along with an abundance of brutal deaths; here’s every one. The move to television understandably had some longtime viewers concerned the gory kills and often darkly hilarious attitude of the franchise would be tempered. Fortunately, that proved to be far from the case. Exploring multiple points in the timeline, Chucky season 1 offered no shortage of chaos for hardcore fans and a whole generation of newcomers alike. With nobody among Chucky 2021’s cast of characters being truly safe, the eight episodes bloodily proved why a true classic really does never go out of style.

As always, Chucky season 1 was shepherded by beloved franchise creator Don Mancini. As a result, the first TV outing marked the return of Child’s Play veterans like Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), Kyle (Christine Elise McCarthy), Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif), and Tiffany Valentine (Jennifer Tilly). With Brad Dourif also returning to voice the titular Chucky, the killer doll equally got to interact with a whole new generation. Comprised by a range of talented young actors, they included Jake Wheeler (Zackary Arthur), Devon Evans (Björgvin Arnarson), Lexy Cross (Alyvia Alyn Lind), and Junior Wheeler (Teo Briones). Picking up only a few weeks after the shocking ending of the Cult of Chucky movie, the show saw Chucky target Hackensack, New Jersey as part of an initially mysterious mission.

By the ending of the Chucky season 1 finale, the killer doll completed his plan to craft an army. Whether or not it gets unleashed – as well as what comes next for several characters – was left unclear. Regardless, the road to Chucky’s grand scheme was one littered with corpses, whether in the present day or part of flashbacks to Charles Lee Ray’s human days. Even Chucky himself had to celebrate his handy work via a brilliant kind of post-credits scene in Chucky episode 8. For those who may have forgotten or simply want to relive the carnage, here’s a handy breakdown of every death in Chucky season 1.

Binx

Every Death In Chucky Season 1

Chucky wasted little time adding to his overall body count after moving in with Jake during Chucky season 1, episode 1, “Death By Misadventure.” After being repeatedly pestered by Binx the cat, Chucky admitted that he’d killed him for being “an a**hole” while Jake was distracted elsewhere. Unlike the 2019 Child’s Play remake, Chucky wisely left the actual moment and exact method of killing the beloved pet to viewers’ imaginations.

Lucas Wheeler

Devon Sawa as Lucas Wheeler Death in Chucky Season 1, Episode 1

Later that same Chucky season 1 episode, Chucky turned his attention to Jake’s homophobic and abusive father, Lucas (Devon Sawa). After another round of his bullying, a distressed Jake wished him dead and Chucky gleefully obliged. In a move inspired by The Exorcist, the killer doll vomited up a wave of whiskey and facilitated Lucas’s eye-melting electrocution.

Annie

Erica Wood as Annie in Chucky Episode 2

Chucky season 1, episode 2, “Give Me Something Good to Eat,” saw the now-orphaned Jake move in with his aunt, uncle, and cousin. Despite promising his new friend to the end that he wouldn’t kill anyone else, Chucky gave himself a housewarming gift. As the housekeeper, Annie (Erica Wood), opened the dishwasher, Chucky pushed her face-first onto the upturned knives.

Oliver Hayden

Avery Esteves as Oliver Hayden in Chucky season 1, episode 3

After being gifted to Caroline (Carina Battrick) by Jake, Chucky made another attempt on Lexy’s life in Chucky season 1, episode 3, “I Like to Be Hugged.” Unfortunately, he stabbed fellow bully Oliver (Avery Esteves) by mistake. Not one to pass up an opportunity, however, Chucky said, “f**k it” and continued stabbing the screaming teen as his friends danced on, oblivious to his fate.

Peter and Elizabeth Ray (Chucky’s Mom and Dad)

Brad Dourif as Chucky and Marisa McIntyre as Elizabeth Ray in Chucky Episode 3

Chucky also explored more of Charles Lee Ray’s origin story. After a serial killer broke into their home, the still human Chucky (David Kohlsmith) witnessed the murder of his father (Andrew Butcher). Though Charles and his mother (Marisa McIntyre) fled and hid in a closet, the unnamed attacker found them — only to realize the young Chucky had already stabbed his mom to death. “I helped!” He said jovially, as present-day Chucky clarified that he wasn’t a product of trauma and the like, but had simply been born bad. As such, Chucky episode 3 succeeded where other slashers fail.

Detective Sean Peyton

Travis Milne as Detective Sean Peyton in Chucky Season 1, Episode 4

After a house fire, the now damaged Chucky was collected by the police officer in Chucky episode 4, “Just Let Go.” After returning him to the hospital bedside of Caroline, Detective Peyton (Travis Milne) began helping himself to the treats left for her. His snacking was cut short when Chucky injured him with a well-thrown scalpel. With him unable to move, Chucky then finished him off, repeatedly stabbing him with daggers comprised of used needles.

Orphanage Janitor

Tyler Barish as young Charles Lee Ray and Michael Scholar Jr as Foster Home Janitor in Chucky Season 1, Episode 4

Further flashbacks in Chucky season 1, episode 4, “Just Let Go,” briefly explored Chucky’s time at an orphanage for young boys. After reading to his fellow residents, young Charles Lee Ray (Tyler Barish) clashed with the janitor (Michael Scholar Jr). The budding serial killer would go on to murder the unnamed man, before mutilating his body to resemble Captain Hook for a Peter Pan-inspired game.

Nica and Tiffany’s Playmates

Eric Tzogas as Nica and Tiffany’s Hostage in Chucky Season 1, Episode 5

Chucky’s fondness for games hadn’t diminished in his old age, nor since possessing the body of Nica Pierce. Making their return in Chucky episode 5, “Little Little Lies,” Nica-Chucky and Tiffany were shown to be toying with new playmates. As one lay already dead on the floor, Chucky took great pleasure in torturing the second (Eric Tzogas). After Nica briefly took back control of her body and tried to free him, however, Chucky simply slit his throat.

Principal McVey

Jana Peck as Principal Megan McVey in Chucky Season 1, Episode 5

After erroneously believing they had killed Chucky, teen heroes Jake, Devon, and Lexy received a stark wake-up call. A town meeting, conducted by Mayor Cross (Barbara Alyn Woods) and Detective Evans (Rachelle Casseus), came to a screeching halt as the severed head of Principal McVey (Jana Peck) rolled onto the stage. The curtain was then pulled back to reveal her body to be staged in a Hannibal-esque tableau, adding to the many Easter eggs and references in Chucky episode 5, “Little Little Lies.”

Delilah

Blaise Crocker as young Tiffany Valentine, Fiona Dourif as Charles Lee Ray, and Samantha Brown as Delilah in Chucky Season 1, Episode 5

The flashbacks in Chucky‘s “Little Little Lies,” revealed the first meeting between Chucky and Tiffany. At first. It seemed like the exotic dancer met by Charles Lee Ray might be her. In truth, however, the red-haired woman the duo picked up for a threesome turned out to be young Tiffany (Blaise Crocker) and the blonde, Delilah (Samantha Brown), turned out to be the twisted couple’s first shared kill.

Used Car Salesman

Blaise Crocker as young Tiffany Valentine, Fiona Dourif as Charles Lee Ray, and Used Car Saleman in Chucky Season 1, Episode 6

Chucky and Tiffany’s crimes continued in the flashbacks of Chucky season 1, episode 6, “Cape Queer.” As they sought to leave Hackensack, New Jersey, they enquired about a car for sale. After learning of its dark history, they decided that they definitely wanted it. Rather than pay, however, Chucky taunted him while Tiffany snuck up behind and slashed his throat.

Chucky (a.k.a. Charlie)

Brad Dourif as Charlie in Chucky Season 1, Episode 6

After successfully tracking a rogue Chucky to South Carolina, and creating a Chucky plot hole, Andy and Kyle posed as census takers to infiltrate his new home. Using the alias Charlie, Chucky revealed his true nature upon being brought out and seeing his nemeses. As he made a move to stab his current friend to the end, Andy shot him in the head. Both he and Kyle then proceeded to shoot “Charlie” several more times to make sure that the job was finished.

Bree Wheeler

Bree Wheeler falls to her death on Chucky

Once past the show’s halfway point, the killer doll’s rampage escalated. The first new victim was Bree Wheeler (Lexa Doig). Revealed to be suffering from terminal cancer, Bree resolved to refuse treatment and instead enjoy every minute she had left with her family. Tragically, that endeavor went unfulfilled. Instead, mere moments later, Chucky factored her into his plans to corrupt Junior. The first of two truly devastating kills in Chucky episode 6, the killer doll launched Bree through a window so that she would horrifically land in front of her teen son.

Detective Kim Evans

Björgvin Arnarson as Devon, Alyvia Alyn Lind as Lexy, Zackary Arthur as Jake, Rachelle Casseus as Detective Kim Evans in Chucky Season 1, Episode 6

The second tragic victim in Chucky season 1, episode 6, “Cape Queer,” was Devon’s mother, Kim Evans. After being mysteriously summoned, the detective arrived at the house where Devon, Jake, and Lexy had tried and failed to catch Chucky. As she called out for her son, Detective Evans was accosted by Chucky. Calling for Devon to watch closely, the killer doll tried to strangle her. Though she was able to fight him off, Kim nonetheless tripped and fell down the stairs — ultimately breaking her neck at the bottom.

Logan Wheeler

Devon Sawa as Logan Wheeler in Chucky Season 1, Episode 7

Chucky’s machinations regarding Junior ultimately came to fruition in Chucky season 1, episode 7, “Twice the Grieving, Double the Loss.” After contributing to his sense of alienation and killing his only beloved family member, the now split-up Chucky and Tiffany pushed Junior over the edge by convincing him that his father, Logan (also Devon Sawa), had been having an affair.  Ultimately, Junior gave in to his rage (and years of built-up pressure) and snapped against his father, using Chucky as a weapon to bash in Logan’s skull.

Pizza Delivery Man

Fiona Dourif as Charles Lee Ray, Blaise Crocker as young Tiffany Valentine, Pizza Delivery Man in Chucky Season 1, Episode 7

Fresh flashbacks in Chucky episode 7 brought things closer to the events of the original Child’s Play movie. Arriving and setting in Chicago, Tiffany and Chucky celebrated by ordering a pizza. It was then rapidly revealed that the only tip they’d offered was that the restaurant should avoid that delivering there in future. As Chucky and Tiffany partied and debated Chicago pizza over Jersey’s, the camera panned to reveal the delivery guy’s body.

Unnamed Woman

Blaise Crocker as young Tiffany Valentine and Unnamed Female Victim in Chucky Season 1, Episode 7

Later in that same episode, solving a Child’s Play/Tiffany mystery and setting the events of the original 1988 movie in motion, the younger Tiffany came home to the sounds of Chucky and a woman moaning. Assuming that he was cheating on her, Tiffany burst into the bedroom to see that she’d been half right. In the middle of murdering the unnamed woman, Tiffany lamented that they never killed together anymore. Without care, Chucky brushed her off and departed for the night, leaving Tiffany alone with the dead body. The move would ultimately prompt the scorned lover to report Chucky to the police.

Chucky (a.k.a. Billy)

Brad Dourif as Chucky aka Billy in Chucky Season 1, Episode 8

Thanks to Junior’s turn to the dark side, Chucky’s latest ritual was complete and he was now able to possess a small army of Good Guy dolls. That included the previously harmless Billy that Jake had intercepted at the bus station. Now alive, “Billy” immediately grabbed a knife and began stalking Jake and Lexy in the Easter egg-packed Chucky season 1, episode 8, “An Affair to Dismember.” He had no sooner paraphrased the classic horror line, “Here’s Chucky,” however, when Kyle burst in and shot him to pieces.

Nathan Cross

Michael Therriault as Nathan Cross in Chucky Season 1, Episode 8

While their marriage ventured increasingly towards divorce, Mayor Michelle Cross and Nathan (Michael Therriault) ultimately came back together in the Chucky season 1 finale. Arriving midway through the charity screening of Frankenstein, the pair shared a sweet moment before Michelle went to get him some popcorn. Unfortunately, that was the moment Chucky decided to crawl beneath the seats and start stabbing people from below. Michelle returned just in time for the now-dead Nathan to drip blood onto the aforementioned snacks.

Multiple Moviegoers

Zackary Arthur as Jake Wheeler and Björgvin Arnarson as Devon Evans in Chucky Season 1 Finale

Having inadvertently eaten some of the blood-soaked popcorn, Michelle eventually became aware of her husband’s murder. Her distressed screams immediately sparked a panicked stampede as everyone in attendance (apart from Caroline, who Chucky may actually care about) rushed to escape the movie theater.  That didn’t hinder Chucky, however. The pint-sized terror was still able to speedily rush around, using the chaos to claim at least five more victims before the cinema was emptied and Jake showed up for a final confrontation.

Chucky

Brad Dourif as Decapitated Chucky in Season 1 Finale

It wasn’t just humans who lost their lives, however. Following the death of the aforementioned “Billy,” several more supernaturally-possessed dolls were killed in the making of the Chucky season 1 finale. That included the Chucky Prime that viewers had followed since the premiere. At a summit of franchise villains, Chucky and Tiffany once again fractured as a couple. That came to head when he commanded her to murder Nica. She ultimately chose to attack Chucky instead, bloodily decapitating him. Though Chucky was still somewhat able to function, he was officially incinerated when Tiffany’s bomb (courtesy of Glenda, who may return in Chucky season 2) consumed Charles Lee Ray’s childhood home in flames.

Chucky 2

Teo Briones as Junior Killing Chucky in Season 1, Episode 8

Yet another Chucky doll met his end as he and Junior tried to convince Lexy to join their murder family. Ultimately refusing, Lexy was finally able to convey her emotions in a more mature manner, guiding Junior somewhat back to the light. Though he retained his psychotic impulses, Junior instead used them in a more heroic way, opting to protect his ex-girlfriend as he always had done in the old days of Chucky season 1. “Leave her alone! She’s not like us,” Junior exclaimed as he killed his surrogate father with a stab to the heart.

Junior Wheeler

Alyvia Alyn Lind as Lexy Cross and Teo Briones as Junior Wheeler in Chucky Season 1 Episode 8

As soon as Junior killed Chucky, the camera pulled back to reveal that the murderous teen had been stabbed in return. Softly calling out, Junior immediately collapsed to the floor. Rapidly taken into the arms of Chucky‘s officially redeemed Lexy, Junior begged his weeping ex-girlfriend to tell everybody that he was sorry before succumbing to his injury. As a result, the entirety of Jake’s family had been officially wiped out, leaving him as the sole surviving member.

Chucky 3

Brad Dourif as Caroline’s Chucky in Chucky Season 1, Episode 8

After a tense struggle, and despite Chucky being supernaturally strong due to voodoo, Jake was ultimately able to overpower the last killer doll on the loose. Though Devon offered him a knife, Jake insisted on using his bare hands. Pinning time to a wall, Jake ignored Chucky’s pleading and attempts to appeal to him. Finally expressing his full rage about Chucky murdering his admittedly abusive father and generally upending his life, Jake choked him to death — squeezing so hard that he even caused the doll’s eyes to pop out of his head.

Kyle?

Christine Elise McCarthy as Kyle At The Door in Chucky Season 1, Episode 8

Despite being abandoned by Andy, Kyle eventually made it to Chucky’s hometown of Hackensack, New Jersey, and sought to reconvene with her foster brother. Unfortunately, them not remaining a solid unit had dire consequences, with Kyle ultimately triggering an explosive booby trap that she’d have avoided if Andy had stuck with her. The next day, Jake and Lexy awake from being drugged to read about the fatalities caused by the explosion. With Andy and Devon ultimately revealed to have survived, that left Kyle unaccounted for and as the listed fatality. Of course, a mysterious gloved figure was later glimpsed, one that could have actually been Kyle. As such, whether or not Kyle is actually dead has been left as a mystery to be answered in the now-confirmed Chucky season 2.
