Every Couple In Think Like A Man Too & What Happens To Them, Explained

Each main couple is put to the test in 2014’s Think Like a Man Too, the sequel to the 2012 rom-com Think Like a Man. In the first movie, the man and woman in each couple fall under certain gendered relationship archetypes outlined in Steve Harvey’s self-help book Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man that conflict with their partner. When the men find out their girlfriends have secretly been applying the book’s advice to their relationships and decide to use this advice against them, all of their relationships temporarily fall apart, but they manage to make up by the end.

Though they’re all still together upon their return in Think Like a Man Too, each couple is now facing a new obstacle in their relationship. After arriving in Vegas for Michael and Candace’s wedding, the men and women go their separate ways for the bachelor and bachelorette parties, both of which culminate in a heated fight at a strip club that lands everybody in jail. The wild events of the night almost jeopardize the big day and put each couple to the test, impacting their fate in Think Like a Man Too.

Michael & Candace

Played by Terrence J & Regina Hall

In Think Like a Man, Candace (Regina Hall), “The Single Mom,” thinks she might have finally found a man who likes kids and will stick around, until she finds out that Michael (Terrence J) is “The Mama’s Boy” type Harvey describes in his book. Candace quickly learns she can’t compete with Michael’s overbearing, possessive mother Loretta (Jenifer Lewis) and eventually breaks up with him. Michael finally learns to set some boundaries with his mom and puts Candace first, declaring his love for Candace at her family reunion telling her that she’s “the number one woman in [his] life.”

Michael proposed to Candace at some point prior to the events of the sequel, since Think Like a Man Too is centered around their Vegas wedding. Unfortunately, Loretta still believes no woman is good enough for her son and continues to interfere with their relationship along with the wedding details. After the whole crew gets arrested and spends the night in jail, Michael and Candace miss their wedding time slot.

When Michael overhears Loretta and Candace get into a fight, he stands up for his bride and demands his mother apologize before uninviting her to the wedding. It’s only after Candace threatens to call off the wedding unless Michael re-invites his mother that Loretta finally thinks she’s good enough for her son and apologizes for her choice words. One of the hotel staff arranges a night wedding and Michael and Candace are able to get married by the end of Think Like a Man Too after all.

Jeremy & Kristen

Played by Jerry Ferrara & Gabrielle Union

Jeremy (Jerry Ferrara) kisses & Kristen (Gabrielle Union)'s shoulder while they lie on the floor together in Think Like a Man Too.

In Think Like a Man, Jeremy (Jerry Ferrara), “The Non-Committer,” still hasn’t popped the question to Kristen (Gabrielle Union), “The Girl Who Wants the Ring,” after nine years. Kristen decides to follow Harvey’s advice and tries to “require” immature manchild Jeremy to propose to her by making some big, grown-up changes to their apartment and encouraging him to find a serious job. Jeremy is averse to all the change at first but learns to adjust when he realizes he doesn’t want to lose Kristen. By the end of Think Like a Man, Jeremy finally proposes to Kristen, who, of course, says yes.

Sometime between Think Like a Man and Think Like a Man Too, Jeremy and Kristen tied the knot. Now, they’re trying for a baby, and Kristen has Jeremy on a strict schedule. Kristen worries that she’s too controlling and tries to prove she’s carefree, while Jeremy panics about the prospect of becoming a father and being forced to grow up for real. Eventually, Jeremy comes to terms with the idea of being a dad just as Kristen realizes her period is late, meaning she might be pregnant. Though it is unconfirmed since she doesn’t take a test, it is implied at the end of Think Like a Man Too that Kristen and Jeremy will be expecting a baby.

Dominic & Lauren

Played by Michael Ealy & Taraji P. Henson

Lauren (Taraji P. Henson) and Dominic (Michael Ealy) cuddle in bed together in Think Like A Man Too.

In Think Like a Man, Dominic is “The Dreamer” who has never followed through on or accomplished any of the goals he set out for himself. Dom pretends to be rich and successful to land a date with Lauren, “The Woman Who Is Her Own Man” and treats every relationship like a business deal. After finding out Dom’s all talk and no real ambition, Lauren lowers her standards and continues to date him before dumping him. After realizing she doesn’t care about status or money, Lauren confesses her love for Dom and the two reconcile.

Although they’re still going strong in Think Like a Man Too, Lauren and Dominic both get job offers in different cities: Lauren to be the COO of her company’s new global media group in New York, and Dom to be the sous chef at a new high-end restaurant in Vegas. Dom confronts Lauren about her new position and relocation after finding out about it on the news, and tells her he turned down his job offer to stay in L.A. with her. Lauren reveals she also turned down her job offer to stay in L.A. with Dom, and they’re still together by the end of Think Like a Man Too.

Zeke & Mya

Played by Romany Malco & Meagan Good

Romany Malco as Zeke & Meagan Good as Mya in Think Like a Man Too

In Think Like a Man Too, Meagan Good plays the role of Mya, who decides to implement the “90 day rule,” requiring a man to wait 90 days to have sex with her. She starts dating Zeke (Romany Malco), “The Player,” whose sole intention is to sleep with her. Mya ends up breaking her 90-day rule after Zeke unintentionally says “I love you,” but dumps him when she finds out he was lying about everything. Zeke realizes that he really does have feelings for Mya and tells her he loves her for real, and they get back together.

Think Like a Man Too shows Zeke adjusting to his first serious relationship better than expected, but Mya thinks all the wedding stuff is freaking him out. To make matters worse, Zeke finds himself haunted by his playboy past in Vegas, where old friends and former flames keep referring to him as “Zeke the Freak.” Mya is disturbed by all these reminders of what a debaucherous womanizer Zeke used to be and can’t shake the feeling he’s not telling her the whole truth about his past.

Toward the end of Think Like a Man Too, Zeke owns up to downplaying his wild history but insists he’s let go of his old ways and tries to show Mya he isn’t “Zeke the Freak” anymore. In a grand gesture that involves him wading through a fountain fully clothed, Zeke surprises Mya by proposing to her in Vegas. She says yes and Mya and Zeke end Think Like a Man Too engaged.

Cedric & Gail

Played by Kevin Hart & Wendy Williams

Kevin Hart as Cedric & Wendy Williams as Gail in Think Like A Man

Kevin Hart’s Cedric and Wendy Williams’ Gail aren’t one of the four main couples from either movie (neither of which is among Kevin Hart’s best movies), but Cedric is the narrator and the unofficial ringleader of the central friend group. Cedric spends the duration of Think Like A Man counting down the seconds until his divorce from Gail is finalized, often reminding his friends how horrible their relationship was. When “D-Day” finally arrives, Cedric realizes he misses Gail and doesn’t actually like the single guy lifestyle. Cedric tells Gail he’s “coming home” and the two reconcile, for better or worse.

After a judge orders a one-month trial separation from Gail, Cedric shows up solo to Vegas in Think Like a Man Too, ready to fulfill his best man duties. He tries ignoring Gail, who keeps calling him about exorbitant charges on her company credit card. After finding out his hotel room is actually $40,000 a night instead of $5,000, he sets out to win his money back at the casino. It’s unclear if Cedric and Gail are together by the end of Think Like a Man Too, since they don’t appear together in the sequel at all.

Bennett and his wife aren’t one of the four main couples in the first movie; in fact, Tish doesn’t appear in Think Like A Man at all, but she does accompany him to Michael and Candace’s wedding in the sequel and tag along with the girls for the bachelorette party. Bennett and Tish are still happily married in Think Like A Man Too, but after the girls give Tish a makeover, her new look reignites a spark in their relationship.
