Every Blighted Bonus Reward in Sea of Thieves (& How to Get Them)

Every Blighted Bonus Reward in Sea of Thieves (& How to Get Them)

Sea of Thieves gives players the chance to live the pirate life with its open-world seafaring gameplay that provides limitless plundering opportunities. Treasure troves of customizable items are waiting to be dug up and there’s a limited time to get the ‘Blighted Bonus’ in order to garner the ‘Blighted Set’ for the ship. This guide will layout what players need to do to get it.

Released on March 20, 2018, by Rare, Sea of Thieves lets players sail off to the far reaches of the sea to unlock mysteries, collect bounties, build a crew and upgrade their ship. Reaching the notoriety of being a legendary pirate is the goal and there are other crews sailing the open seas trying to achieve the same dream. Each member of a crew has their own position that ranges from steering the ship, hoisting the sails, or scouting from the crow’s nest. Even though there are fabled sea monsters dwelling deep in the belly of the ocean, the true menace will be other crews. They can show up at a moment’s notice and blast the hull of a player’s ship with cannons and other firearms. Ships can take on real-time damage and water will seep in, gradually sinking the ship. Players will need to board up holes, bail out water with buckets, and repair fell masts in order to keep the ship afloat. Although there are voyages to be completed with a well-established crew, the core of this game is the PVP aspect that tasks other crews to battle over a heap of riches and even settling scores.

When it comes to voyages, players will need to join a faction (trading company) that offers different types of adventures and rewards. These factions are; Order of Souls, Gold Hoarders, Reapers Bones, Hunter’s Call, Sea Dogs, Athena’s Fortune, Bilge Rats, and the Merchant Alliance. Joining a faction will provide original goals that can be either; sinking a ship, finding a specific treasure, or delivering livestock. Regardless of which direction a crew takes, completing voyages rewards a higher reputation and gold in some capacity. Gold is used to purchase new items from shipwrights and weaponsmiths, but there are other ways to obtain cosmetics such as completing events. Thus, reputation points will slowly build up among each completed quest that is under the “Tall Tales” category in an addendum to voyages. Tall Tales are narrative-driven missions that require solving riddles and bypassing puzzles on secret islands while fighting mystical enemies. During the crew’s adventure, miscellaneous items like; cannonballs, food, planks, and message bottles can be found randomly throughout the world which is needed to sustain one’s ship and crew.

How to Get The Blight Bonus Rewards in Sea of Thieves

Even though each trading company provides unique experiences, every now and again a special event will be available that undertakes players on completing unique goals. Currently, there’s the “Blighted Bonus Event” that’s available from June 10th-16th. Crews need to submit 30 items to specified trading companies to unlock the “Blighted Set” for their ship. This event only lasts for one week so it’s advised to start early to have enough time to get everything. The following is a list of what trading companies are involved with this event and what items are needed to collect and turn in.

Blighted Bonus Figurehead

  • Find the mysterious stranger associated with Athen’s Fortune and give him 30 pieces of Athena’s Treasure.

Blighted Bonus Sails

  • Locate the Merchant Alliance and turn in 30 cargo crates.

Blighted Hull

  • Go to the Gold Hoarders and give them 30 chests.

Blighted Flag

  • Approach the Order of Souls and give them 30 bounty skulls.

If players miss this opportunity, don’t sweat it. All of the ‘Blighted Set’ pieces will be available in the Pirate Emporium at a later date. Every faction can be found at any outpost, except Athena’s Fortune. They are in a secret location that only Pirate Legends (or members of the Athen’s Fortune faction) know of. However, if someone in the crew has ‘Pirate Legend’ status, they can help others get in as a guest. If players are yearning to know where it is, the hideout is located under the “Ferry of the Damned”, which is within the “Glorious Sea Dog Tavern”.

Sea of Thieves is available on Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
