Even Dragon Ball Super Fans Missed The Tournament of Power’s Epic Sequel

Warning: contains spoilers for Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission chapter 1!

The Tournament of Power arc was one of the most anticipated sagas in Dragon Ball history. With the promise of dozens of the multiverse’s most powerful warriors fighting in an all-out battle royale, fans were on the edge of their seats as Goku and company fought their way to the finish. Super Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultra God Mission is looking to emulate that hype and success with the introduction of an even grander tournament: the Super Space-Time Tournament.

Though its name is a bit of a mouthful, the Super Space-Time Tournament has a surprisingly simple premise. There are twelve teams, each with seven team members. The teams are selected from alternate timelines instead of differing universes, which has led several characters from different universes to be on the same team. Though the teams have not been fully revealed yet, most of the Z Warriors seem to be on Team 1. Team 1 thus far consists of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Yamcha, Jiren, and Hit.

Several other teams have been revealed to be a part of the Super Space-Time Tournament, some of them bringing back extremely old or film-exclusive characters. Even characters which made up the lower ranks of the Red Ribbon Army, such as Ninja Murasaki and General White, are present at this tournament, which must mean in some strange alternate history, the Red Ribbon Army consists of the strongest warriors in the universe. Other warriors present at the tournament include the Ginyu Force, the Lord Slug Force, Babidi’s henchmen, and Garlic Jr’s Spice Boys.

The Super Space-Time Tournament has just begun and is already looking to be one of the craziest events in Dragon Ball history. The winner of the tournament has been promised “godly prizes” but it remains to be seen if this tournament is a real event or just a ruse by some mastermind in the shadows. There are also a plethora of warriors who have yet to be seen, as entire teams remain mysteries. The narrator of this series also expands on Dragon Ball lore by giving an exact number for the main timeline’s place in history, that being History: 76, 434, 925, 761. Team 1 is also said to be from a divergent universe, which may raise one of Dragon Ball’s greatest mysteries ever, as it begs the question: what was the first timeline in Dragon Ball?

The Super Space-Time Tournament is already looking to dial everything from the Tournament of Power up a notch and has already paired off a few characters. Most notable are the two man teams of Jiren and Yamcha, Gohan and Piccolo, as well as Hit and Pan. With a cliffhanger teasing a battle between two Dragon Ball heavyweights, Jiren and Broly, the Tournament of Power’s sequel is shaping up to be one of the most insane chapters in Dragon Ball history.
