Euphoria Season 3 Filming Plan Reportedly Revealed After Delay, Fewer Episodes Expected

Euphoria Season 3 Filming Plan Reportedly Revealed After Delay, Fewer Episodes Expected

The filming plan and the episode count for Euphoria season 3 have now been revealed. The teen drama is based on the Israeli miniseries of the same name and debuted in June 2019 to critical acclaim and controversy. The first two seasons were hugely successful, catapulting its cast members to mainstream prominence, including Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney. Season 3 was renewed in February 2022, but production was halted due to Hollywood labor disputes, scheduling, and the death of cast member Angus Cloud.

According to new details from Variety, the filming for season 3 is expected to begin in 2025. A new update on its filming schedule is expected by October 1, after the initial delay for Euphoria season 3 was confirmed and the cast was free to pursue projects in 2024. The streamer is very adamant about making the next installment as Levinson works on the new script. If the filming goes as planned, it will shoot for about 25 weeks. Also, the episode count will be shortened from eight to six, but that number could change if Levinson deems that more is needed.

Will Euphoria Season 3 Definitely Happen?

The Show Has Suffered From Protracted Delays After Season 2 Last Aired In 2022.

Production for season 3 has been troublesome for some time since the Euphoria season 2 finale aired in 2022. During those two years, many cast members shed light on the delay, accounting for issues like Levinson having to do rewrites. Circumstances initially seemed to take a turn when Sweeney teased that season 3 was going to be in production soon as she promoted her horror movie Immaculate. However, this update was then contradicted not long after that filming was again delayed, but there is still hope that it will premiere at some point in 2025.

Euphoria Season 2 Finale: Why Rue Walks Away From Jules

The Euphoria season 2 finale sees Jules come to terms with much of her recent trauma, yet she still chooses to walk away from Jules at the play.

In terms of Euphoria season 3 storylines, not much is known at this stage, but it is believed Levinson, who has full creative control over the show, proposed a five-year time jump, with strong arcs for Sweeney’s Cassie Howard, and Jacob Elordi’s Nate Jacobs. There have been reports that star and two-time Emmy winner Zendaya was not impressed with the initial scripts, which has led to significant changes, and this could have been a key reason behind the delay. Indeed, the Spider-Man: No Way Home star, who is also an executive producer on the show, is believed to have offered Levinson large amounts of creative input about where she wants the story to go for her character Rue.

Here is a list of expected season 3 cast members:

At the time of writing, the chances for season 3 seem questionable, but it does seem that most involved would like to see it through and give the show the conclusion it deserves. Much of that will depend on the schedules of those involved, with Zendaya and Sweeney now in-demand movie stars, as well as salary negotiations, and agreement over creative direction. For now, the wait will continue for Euphoria season 3.
