Dominic Fike reveals uncertainty about his character’s Euphoria season 3 return. The HBO series premiered back in 2019, following Rue Bennett (Zendaya) and other high school students contending with relationship drama, drug addiction, and more. Fike’s character Elliot became friends with Rue and Jules (Hunter Schafer) in Euphoria season 2, but romantic feelings and knowledge of Rue’s relapse made things complicated between them. While Euphoria season 3 was already confirmed, production delays affecting its upcoming release date and the loss of several important cast members have raised concerns.
During a recent interview with Variety, Fike discussed the possibility of returning for Euphoria season 3. He revealed that it “would be dope” to reprise his role, but expressed uncertainty about whether it will actually happen, adding “I don’t really talk to them anymore.“
What Elliot’s Absence Would Mean For Euphoria Season 3
Fike previously revealed that he was nearly dropped from Euphoria, noting how his own experience with addiction became troublesome while filming. Still, the actor’s latest comments suggest that he is open to returning, and with so much time having passed between installments, it’s worth wondering how the show will handle Elliot’s story either way. By the end of season 2, it seemed that Elliot and Jules were no longer talking and though his character made amends with Rue, recognizing that he was a bad influence, the status of their friendship was left unclear.
The potential absence of Elliot in Euphoria season 3 would mean that the series has lost another main character. Barbie Ferreira announced her departure in August 2022, and Javon Walton’s character Ashtray was killed during the high-stakes police raid from the season 2 finale. When Euphoria returns, it will also be without Angus Cloud, who sadly passed away in July. The last time audiences saw Fez (Cloud) on the show, he had witnessed Ashtray getting shot and was arrested, missing the school musical put on by Lexi (Maude Apatow).
Because so much about the upcoming season of Euphoria is unknown, it will be interesting to learn more about the cast, who eventually comes back, and how their stories progress. Given his history with other characters on the show, it does seem possible for Elliot to return, but Fike’s comments about season 3 reveal that it might not happen.
