Elden Ring players can find the secret and optional boss Lichdragon Fortissax hidden in the Lands Between. Defeating this enormous four-winged dragon will unlock an alternative ending and the rewards Fia’s Armor Set, Runes, and Remembrance of the Lichdragon. In addition, the Remembrance will let players purchase two Incantations, Fortissax’s Lightning Spear and Death Lightning, from Enia, the Finger Reader.
To find the boss Lichdragon Fortissax, players will need to reach the end of Fia’s questline in Elden Ring. During this questline, players will need to give the broken dagger to D, Hunter of the Dead. Once they give the NPC the dagger, they will head to Nokron and battle the Valiant Gargoyle boss. During this boss fight, players will notice a coffin within the arena after the Valiant Gargoyle is defeated. Players should interact with the coffin to teleport to a hidden location, Deeproot Depths.
Once at Deeproot Depths, players should travel West toward the Great Waterfall Crest Site of Lost Grace. From there, players can summon a steed to continue their travels to the West. Players will eventually reach a giant tree root that connects two platforms. Players should climb up onto the root and follow the path. Following this route will lead players to the Deeproot Depths bonfire, which they should activate. Players will find an NPC in Elden Ring sitting by a cliff and dressed as a fortune teller if they are traveling in the correct direction.
Elden Ring: Finding the Lichdragon Fortissax in Deeproot Depths
As players continue down this path, they will arrive at a small structure that resembles a cottage used for gardening. Here, players will find a map fragment to collect as they proceed Southwest toward the Nameless Eternal City Site of Lost Grace. Once at the Site of Lost Grace, players should head South through an archway guarded by an enemy knight. If players do not kill the knight, it will chase them continuously until defeated. From the archway after defeating the knight in Elden Ring, players should travel East and through the tree roots until they reach a fork in the path. At the fork, players should follow the path on the right.
From the right path, players should activate the Across the Roots bonfire. Once activated, players can proceed into the large open area where they will find Fia. Before players can interact with Fia, they will need to face her Champions. Once the Champions are defeated, players can give Fia the Cursemark of Death, which can be found on a corpse at the Divine Tower of Liurnia. To reach this tower, players will need to complete Ranni’s questline in Elden Ring and obtain the Carian Inverted Statue from Ranni.
Once players give Fia the Cursemark of Death, they can reenter the arena and find Fia asleep. Players will be able to enter her dreams, where the boss Lichdragon Fortissax resides. Once this boss is defeated, players will earn the Mending Rune of the Death-Prince, which will unlock the Age of Duskborn ending. Additionally, beating the boss will earn players 90,000 Runes and the Remembrance of Lichdragon.
