Elden Ring: How To Get (& Use) The Taunter’s Tongue

Elden Ring: How To Get (& Use) The Taunter’s Tongue

The Taunter’s Tongue is a Multiplayer Item in Elden Ring used to grant access to Invaders to a Host’s world without requiring any Furled Finger allies to be present. Typically, a PvP invasion becomes possible once a Host of Fingers has activated the Summoning signs of one or two players. However, with the Taunter’s Tongue, Tarnished Hosts can now “summon” Invaders to their world without manually interacting with an Elden Ring red Summoning sign or calling in another player.

Furthermore, activation of the Taunter’s Tongue will allow a second Invader to enter the Host’s world, when before the limit was only one. Keep in mind that a second ally cannot be summoned once two Invaders are present within a world. In other words, the Lands Between will only allow 1v1, 2v1, and 2v2 PvP battles between players. 2v3 fights aren’t feasible even with the Taunter’s Tongue’s active effect. It should also be noted that Furlcalling Finger Remedy ×1 is required to use the Taunter’s Tongue.

To get the Taunter’s Tongue in Elden Ring, Tarnished pilgrims must be granted admission to the Roundtable Hold, the player hub area in the Lands Between. No matter how adventurers progress through their journey, Melina will visit the player at some point and invite them to the Roundtable Hold. However, it can be useful to know how this event is triggered. To reach the Roundtable Hold in Elden Ring, Tarnished must do one of the following: facing (defeating) Margit, rest at multiple Grace points within Limgrave, or rest at a Site of Grace outside Limgrave.

Once Tarnished travelers arrive at Roundtable Hold, they can walk northeast into a spacious hall and jump off the balcony down into the room’s main level. An NPC Invader called Mad Tongue Alberich within the foyer will appear and attack the player after offering his greeting. He is equipped with a scythe and Glintstone Staff and is capable of Spells that can inflict Frostbite in Elden Ring and Hemorrhage. For newer players, Alberich will likely be one of the most challenging foes they’ve encountered up to this point. However, those who face him later during their playthrough will probably find multiple ways to punish his weaknesses. For instance, he is susceptible to poison and easily staggered with “spammable” weapon skills or Spells.

Once Mad Tongue Alberich has been defeated, he will drop a Furlcalling Finger Remedy and the Taunter’s Tongue, granting the player one free use with the Invader-luring device.

Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
