Elden Ring DLC Is Finally Getting A Trailer (With Plenty Of Gameplay)

The gameplay reveal trailer for Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has been announced, giving players a more concrete date on when they can finally see some of the upcoming content for the highly awaited expansion. Shadow of the Erdtree was announced back in early 2023, so the reveal of a gameplay trailer comes nearly a year after the DLC was first shown by developer FromSoftware. The reveal of Elden Ring‘s DLC generated a lot of expectation for fans of the Lands Between, as it seems to hint at a lot of lore-related content.

The announcement of the gameplay reveal trailer occured through a post made on the official Elden Ring account on X. The gameplay trailer will go live on February 21, at 7 am PT, on the official Bandai Namco Europe channel on YouTube.

Other than the reveal of the date and time for the gameplay trailer for the DLC, the post made on the account on X does not contain much information. A subsequent post made on the same Elden Ring account on X reveals that the presentation will be three minutes long.

Elden Ring DLC – What “Shadow Of The Erdtree” Could Actually Mean

Elden Ring’s DLC expansion is finally in development, but little to nothing is known about what the titular shadow of the Erdtree even is.

What Elden Ring’s Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC Is About

There have been a lot of theories regarding the contents of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC since its announcement back in 2023. The content’s reveal was accompanied by the product’s key image, which features a blonde character riding a spirit steed that looks a lot like Torrent. The main theory is that the blonde character is Miquella, a character that is mentioned throughout the entire campaign, being represented as a key witness to the several events that took place in the Lands Between. Players never actually get to meet Miquella in Elden Ring, however.

The speculation is that Miquella will be shown during the DLC and that the story itself will revolve around the character. There are theories that Malenia’s twin brother would appear as he tries to find a cure for his sister’s rot. However, the most plausible thing to occur is to have the player’s character dragged into Miquella’s dream, induced after being kidnapped by Mohg, Lord of Blood. If this is true, Elden Ring‘s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC could allow players to visit the content much earlier than having to progress to Malenia in the late stages of the game.

There’s Only One Way For Elden Ring DLC To Make Its Story More Dramatic

Shadow of the Erdtree has the challenge of raising the narrative stakes of an already epic story, and there’s one obvious way to accomplish this.

The DLC does not yet have a release date or even a release window for that matter. With the reveal of the gameplay trailer, there is a chance that either a window or a date will be announced, giving players more information on when they can expect to start exploring the additional content in FromSoftware’s award-winning RPG. The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is one of the most anticipated pieces of content since before it was announced, mainly due to how popular Elden Ring itself was following its release in 2022.
