Marvel Comics is putting the “dead” in Deadpool this September when it kills off Wade Wilson. Coming off the heels of the Merc with a Mouth’s latest cinematic venture, the ongoing Deadpool comic series will kick off an all-new arc with the death of its title character.
In the solicitation information for its September comic releases, Marvel revealed that Deadpool #6 by Cody Ziglar and Rogê Antônio will feature the death of Deadpool himself. Because the issue is the beginning of a new arc, Marvel’s solicit points out that “killing Deadpool NOW would be an INSANE thing to do. Which is exactly why we’re doing it.” This “startling turning point” promises to launch “an all-new era for the series.”

Wade Wilson triumphed against Death Grip! This is the first issue of a new arc and killing Deadpool NOW would be an INSANE thing to do. Which is exactly why we’re doing it. |
It’s a rough time for Deadpool in Marvel Comics right now, as he’s still reeling from the breakup with his most recent romantic partner, Valentine. The solicit teases that Wade will triumph in his current struggle against the evil Death Grip cult. However, a further announcement from Marvel says, “Death Grip does the unthinkable in Deadpool #6!” Either way, it doesn’t seem like he’ll get much time to enjoy his victory before kicking the bucket.
Deadpool #6 will be available September 18 from Marvel Comics.

Summary
The Merc with the Mouth first appeared in an issue of New Mutants in 1990, and since then has gone on to get his own series and a massive cult following. With his incredible powers of healing and regeneration, Deadpool was initially depicted as an X-Men villain, but went on to become an anti-hero. After getting his own movie series starting in 2016, the third Deadpool movie finally brings the wisecracking, fourth-wall-breaking character into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
