Eerie Scream 5 Fan Poster Welcomes Sidney Prescott Home To Woodsboro

An eerie new Scream 5 fan poster welcomes series protagonist Sidney Prescott home to Woodsboro. The slasher franchise arguably remains one of the best examples of the genre, despite its three sequels never quite matching the first film’s success.

Though Scream 5 has been confirmed, the sequel still hasn’t managed to ensure fans that Neve Campbell, who has played Prescott in all four Scream films to date, will return. So far, the only confirmed original cast members are David Arquette – who plays Dewey Riley and Courtney Cox, who plays his wife, Gale Weathers. The new film’s directors, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, have certainly been making a concerted effort to get Campbell back on board. Still, the 46-year-old star has yet to commit.

As fans wait to see what the ultimate decision will be with regards to Campbell’s involvement in Scream 5, one fan, in particular, has gone ahead and created a poster for the upcoming film. The artwork has been posted to Creepy Duck Design’s Instagram account and has so far had a very positive response from fans online. Depicting the Ghostface mask of the iconic franchise’s killer in enormous proportions, a car can be seen driving through the mist and into the awaiting darkness of its mouth. The poster’s tagline simply states, “Welcome home, Sidney.” Check out the full poster below:

Though the poster assumes that Campbell will be returning for Scream 5, the journey into darkness that it suggests is also entirely apt, considering fans know nothing of the plot for the upcoming film. Some have said that a fifth Scream, which reportedly aims to focus more on remaining true to the original 1996 film, would be better off without Campbell. Because the character has appeared in every movie in the franchise to date, it’s arguable that it’s time to move the story in a new direction.

While this is indeed a plausible option, exactly how a fifth Scream could remain faithful to the original film without focusing on Sidney Prescott would be a bit of a challenge. However, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett have already proven themselves more than capable horror directors. With their creative energy behind the film, it’s entirely possible Scream 5 could be just the thing to rejuvenate the entire franchise.

So far, it’s looking as though this latest entry in the franchise will be arriving in 2021, though an official announcement has yet to be made. It’s safe to say that until that time comes – or Campbell does confirm her involvement, many fans will be sincerely hoping that Creepy Duck Design’s fan poster is accurate. It’s been almost a decade since the Ghostface killer terrorized the inhabitants of Woodsboro. For those who can’t imagine a Scream film without Campbell, it is indeed time to welcome Sidney Prescott back to the quaint California town for Scream 5.
