Edge Of Seventeen Soundtrack: Every Song In The Movie

Here’s every song on The Edge Of Seventeen’s soundtrack. Filmmaker and screenwriter Kelly Fremon Craig’s directorial debut The Edge Of Seventeen is a coming-of-age comedy-drama that takes a leaf out of John Hughes’ moviemaking book. But whereas films like Ferris Bueller’s Day Off or The Breakfast Club explored teen angst in the yuppie era, The Edge Of Seventeen is about what it’s like to be an awkward female teenager growing up in the digital age.

Hailee Steinfeld (Bumblebee) stars as protagonist Nadine Franklin, a 17-year-old high schooler who feels like the black sheep both at home with her popular older brother Darian (Glee’s Blake Jenner), overly dramatic mother Mona (The Closer’s Kyra Sedgwick) and among most of her peers. At least she has best friend Krista (Haley Lu Richardson, Columbus) to keep her sane – or at least she does until Krista starts dating Darian and a wedge is driven between them.

The Edge Of Seventeen was a big hit with critics who praised its whip-smart script and Hailee Steinfeld’s star performance. The movie also boasts a great eclectic soundtrack featuring a mix of indie rock, rap, and ballads that serve as a befitting musical backdrop to the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. Here’s every song featured on The Edge Of Seventeen soundtrack.

Perhaps surprisingly for a film titled The Edge Of Seventeen, Stevie Nicks’ 1982 song “Edge Of Seventeen” is noticeably absent from the movie soundtrack, as are any songs by star Hailee Steinfeld who also has a successful music career. There are also a few songs featured in the film that didn’t make it onto soundtrack including Billy Joel’s “You May Be Right,” “Go It Alone” by Beck and classic 1980s ballad “True” by Spandau Ballet.

Thanks to the success of The Edge Of Seventeen, a spin-off web series is currently in the works at YouTube Premium. Kelly Fremon Craig will act as executive producer with Annabel Oakes – the writer-producer behind Netflix’s coming-of-age comedy series Atypical – on scriptwriting duties. The Edge Of Seventeen spin-off will star Isabelle Fuhrman (The Hunger Games) as a version of Hailee Steinfeld’s character with Liana Liberato (Light As A Feather), Stony Blyden (Hunter Street), Lance Lim (School Of Rock) and Daniel Rashid (The Rich & The Ruthless) making up the rest of the cast.
