DWTS: Tyra Banks Teases Potential ‘Twists And Turns’ For Season 30

Dancing With The Stars host Tyra Banks is teasing potential “twist and turns” for the upcoming season. The show’s milestone 30th season is set to take place this fall; however, a premiere date has yet to be announced. Tyra did not go into detail about the upcoming changes to the show, but she claims she had pitched these ideas to production last season. She is hopeful the new additions to the show will spice things up.

Tyra was introduced to host the dancing competition last season after the show’s longtime host Tom Bergeron as well as his co-host Erin Andrews were reportedly fired from the hosting gig. Fans were shocked by the sudden change in host; however, ABC claimed they added Tyra to bring in a more youthful feel to the show. Longtime viewers were not impressed by Tyra’s hosting capabilities. In fact, some even started a petition to have her removed from the show. Many were hoping Tyra would not return as host for another season.

Not only will Tyra be returning for the show’s milestone 30th season, but she will also be implementing some “twists and turns” to the show as well. In an interview with Extra, Tyra stated that these “twists and turns” being added to the show this season will hopefully “bring the youth to watching that show even more with their families.” The new changes will allegedly add a “modern” twist to the show. Tyra claims she had hoped production would implement her changes last season; however, they “didn’t have enough time.” Tyra is not only the host of the show but also the executive producer, which is why she has a say in altercations made to the show.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dancing With the Stars, like many other live television shows, was not allowed to have an in person studio audience for the first time ever. As for the upcoming season, not even Tyra knows if an audience will return. She and the rest of the team have been going back and forth about what is the best decision to make. In regards to her personal opinion on the matter, Tyra told ET, “probably not, if I really think about ultimate safety… maybe not yet.”

Even more changes may be coming to the season than what Tyra had initially planned. Longtime judge, Carrie Ann Inaba, may not be returning for the milestone season. Back in April, she stepped away from her role on The Talk to focus on her own health. Since she has yet to return to the daytime show, it is unknown if Carrie Ann will be better in time to sit on the judges panel this fall. As for Tyra, she has high hopes that Carrie Ann will be present for the 30th season as well as for all of the “twists and turns” she has in store for the show.
